Weekend Guide
---

---

Maybe it’s the time of year, maybe it’s the weather or maybe it’s just us: food is on the brain, as you’ll see from our gastro-heavy pickings this week. There’s European food and drink on Friday (eat in or out), a New York-themed Saturday, and a brunch/wine infused-Sunday (how else should you spend a Sunday?). As well as two international rooftop parties (Cannes included), some theatre, a Love Brunch competition and a thrift sale. So trade in your Sunday night blues for a Sunday night food coma.

This Weekend’s Picks

• FRI PRET A DINER • SAT The Lion NYC at The Brompton Club
• SUN Randall and Aubin

PRET A DINER
ITALIANS DO IT BETTER

If the week’s taken it out of you and another night of partying seems too much to handle, settle on the sofa and order a gourmet takeaway from Housebites. Starting this weekend, there’s a little ooh la la going on with a new menu created by Bruno Loubet (of The Zetter). Don your Breton stripes and beret and order duck confit with beetroot marmalade, slow roast pork belly with mustard salsa and French toast with toffee apple. Bon appétit.   If you haven’t reserved a table at Pret A Diner’s latest, then we urge you to do so now (there are still some places left). What you might not know is that you can pop in for drinks at the bar (run by 69 Colebrooke Row’s Tony C), hear some live music and admire the space, which has been designed by Italian artists. It’s very Baz Luhrmann Romeo and Juliet – we especially love the neon basketball hoop.

XOYO presents Standard Place

The toast of New York’s dining scene is putting in an appearance this summer. Until July, The Lion will pop up at The Brompton Club, where John DeLucie (of The Waverley Inn) offers his Italian-American take on classic cuisine. Signature dishes include yellow fin tuna tartare, mac and cheese with truffles and The Lion Special Blend burger: pork belly, provolone, smoked cheddar, caramelised onions and tomato. Move over MEATliquor.   And again with NYC (kind of). XOYO teams up with underground warehouse party night Standard Place to host a US-garage showdown with big-time NY producer Todd Edwards heading the bill. Support comes from local DJs Oneman, Jon Rust and Reecha, while Room 2 is taken care of by independent radio station NTS. Just call it nouveau ghetto.

If you love the fresh seafood, glitter balls (and occasional drag act) in the evening, why not try out the new Belvedere Bloody Mary fuelled brunch at this Soho institution.
