Weekend Guide

---

It seems this week is another week of weeks! Wool week, bake week and oyster week, apparently. So we'll be wrapping up warm, baking cakes, eating oysters and drinking champagne obviously. We'll also be breakfasting at Quo Vadis, dancing in Brixton, sipping on late night gin and juice and pulling an all-nighter on Sunday. If you'd rather a relaxed one, then check out some Hollywood costumes or see an otherworldly film.

This Weekend’s Picks
• FRI Quo Vadis Breakfast • SAT Hollywood Costume • SUN Beasts of the Southern Wild

DISNEY POP UP BOUTIQUE AT HARRODS

Disney's on the brain. The trend continues, with Harrods opening a Disney boutique on the fourth floor. Dress up and have your photo taken, shop an array of products (including accessories and limited collectables like Cinderella's glitter-embellished glass slipppers) or simply get into the festive mood. Stay tuned for their Xmas window displays which will showcase dresses by the likes of Oscar De La Renta, Elie Saab and Versace, which pay tribute to the Disney princesses themselves.

FRIDAY

BREAKFAST:
Quo Vadis Dean Street
  DANCE:
Absolut Blank Live

Another option for Friday breakfasts in Soho. Quo Vadis is now open early on weekdays, offering up a mix of classic morning favourites with the QV touch. Go for toast with ricotta, squash, bacon, sage and parmesan, or keep it simple with granola, fruit compote, yoghurt and a side of toast – all bread is baked overnight in the new QV bakery. Bypass OJ for freshly-squeezed pink grapefruit juice.   Have you danced in any of the Absolut booths recently (note: they were at Bestival and Adidas Underground)? If so, head to their closing event at Electric Brixton and you might see your vid' on the big screen. Little Dragon, Star Slinger and Felix B of Basement Jaxx will be performing live audio-visual sets with the best videos from the booths projected in the background. D.A.N.C.E!

An exhibition of our time. Hollywood Costume is what it says on the can – an exhibition showcasing over 100 iconic movie ensembles from the past century. Go diva and see Joan Crawford's The Bride Wore Red dress, 70s nostalgia with John Travolta's Saturday Night Fever garms, or femme fatale over the ages: Tippi Hedren in The Birds, Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast and Rose's boarding outfit from Titanic. And then there's the action men: Darth Vader, Indiana Jones and Captain Jack Sparrow. Oh, and that blood-strewn Die Hard vest. Yippie ki-yay.   It's all about the late night. If you haven't yet been to PRET A DINER's latest, the Burlington Social Club, do so now. FILM:
BEASTS OF THE SOUTHERN WILD
  PARTY:
FABRIC'S 13TH BIRTHDAY

Much-anticipated Beasts of the Southern Wild (it's won every prize from Sundance to Cannes) is the story of a tiny hero learning to survive a catastrophe of epic proportions. Six-year-old Hushpuppy, who lives in a struggling bayou of Louisiana, copes with the onset of Hurricane Katrina by slipping into a world of imagination that involves extinct beasts and melting ice caps. Cinematically stunning (it was filmed on a 16mm camera), this gritty film finds its counterpart in its dose of magical realism.   Pull an all-nighter, not at a usual birthday party but a full-on 32-hour banger. Celebrate 13 years of partying at Clerkenwell's finest – formerly a meatpacking warehouse (they were so ahead of the curve). The line up is a mixture of UK and international house talent, with the likes of Cosmic Kids, DJ Sneak, Fred P, Seth Troxler and residents Craig Richards and Terry Francis (and many more). Unfortunately tickets have sold out for Saturday entry but there's still some available for Sunday. Tackle this like the closings and start in the morning – we wouldn't have lasted the 32 hours anyway.
