We're going on the fashion offensive this weekend (though we still have Friday, Saturday and Sunday picks for the non-fash-pack). After all, this season we're extra-specially proud to be British. New York may have bagsied first spot for AW13 but we came out on top, attracting a record number of buyers, journos and designers (plus Tom Ford, L'Wren Scott, and newbie Rihanna all jumped the Stateside ship). Go London. Everything else seemed to be going supersize too. Tech got tech-ier, locations got cooler/higher/grander and the high street shone… though the FROWs really didn't. Read on for our edit of AW13. |

Forget the colours, the prints, the themes – the overriding trend at AW13 was technology. Topshop joined forces with Google for "The Future of the Fashion Show" held in The Tanks at Tate Modern. Viewers could watch the catwalk from different perspectives – as model, frow or dresser backstage – and details like nail polishes and music were available immediately afterwards. House of Holland (via eBay) and Mulberry also shared the streaming love, while Burberry upped the techie stakes completely by lauching a made to order catwalk service, where customers could order pieces from this season's catwalk straight after the show. Nifty. |

We were well juiced this season. At the Glacéau vitaminwater-sponsored shows the looks went through the ages: '60s and '70s cocktail glam adorned the catwalk at PPQ, while Holly Fulton channelled rocker via animal prints and leather and Todd Lynn went for deconstructed, feminine tailoring.
Glacéau vitaminwater is the official soft drinks sponsor of London Fashion Week. Urban Junkies attended all shows mentioned on behalf of Glacéau vitaminwater. For more colourful content go to Facebook.com/vitaminwater.

ROUND UP |
NOUVEAU ROCK: Holly Fulton did it via animal prints and leather, while a rebellious streak shone through at Moschino Cheap and Chic with leopard, shaggy furs and a even a guitar bag. Julien Macdonald punctuated his comeback with snakeskin, pointy silver shoes and grungey feathers, brocade and hair.
HIGH SHINE: Look to Markus Lupfer for PVC skirts, tops, jackets and dresses. Luxe patent, futuristic limes and iridescent purple featured at Antipodium. Even Burberry did shiny, with transparent, glossy details on its trenches.
DOING IT FOR THE KIDS: Sophia Webster channelled My Little Pony with multicoloured pony hair, pony cut-outs, polka dot motifs, and shoes reminiscent of sweetie wrappers. Vivienne Westwood Red Label used cartoons for make up inspiration. And over at Tom Ford? Kapow!
90s: It's still the decade of choice. At Topshop Unique (pictured above) they did grown up grunge (with a Blur soundtrack). We spotted smiley faces at Jena Theo, skirts worn over trousers at Mulberry, pom pom madness at Sister by Sibling, and low-slung baggy pants at J.W.Anderson which harked back to Gwen's early No Doubt days.
PINK: Pantone got it wrong. Emerald is not the colour of the year; it's pink. Pink from all over the spectrum: bubblegum at Moschino Cheap and Chic; candyfloss at Simone Rocha; twinkly at Topshop; icy hues at Roksanda Ilincic; dusty and silky at Giles; purpley and textured at J JS Lee; and fuschia pops at Tom Ford.
GRANDMA POWER: Not a likely muse, but Granny inspired this season. Henry Holland went for "what granny wore in the 80s", while Simone Rocha paid tribute to both her Irish and Chinese grandmas. Nawwww. |

MIX |
Paul Smith Let's Dance! |
A soundtrack that matched the bright, loud and altogether upbeat vibe that pulsated down the catwalk at Paul Smith's Tate Britain show. As David Bowie and Hot Chip blasted through the speakers, magentas, cobalt blues and metallics swam with the silhouette of the modern women, strong, powerful and positive. Girl power just got happy.

THE HOUSE BALL BY DAZED & CONFUSED |
LFW parties seemed to be thin on the ground this season (read: people are still being sensible at the start of the year). Appropriate then, for a full-on blow out by the Dazed Group. After an intimate dinner hosted by AnOther, Dazed & Confused took the reigns, throwing a New York Ball Room-themed after-party curated by artist Matthew Stone. Designers, off-duty models and the It pack were out in full force – Cara, Alexa, Rita, Daisy, Harry Styles, Will.i.am, and Matthew Williamson – sipping on Belvedere cocktails. While freezing fashionistas queued outside with McDonald's, voguing dancers dressed in Meadham Kirchhoff, Astrid Andersen and Nasir Mazhar worked the podiums.
Guests drank cocktails including Belvedere Blush, with pink grapefruit and cranberry; Art of Reading with Belvedere vodka, Mandarine Napoléon and fresh raspberry; and Throwing Shade with Belvedere vodka, Mandarine Napoléon, Chambord, fresh basil and pomegranate juice. |
