KAZ JAMES' GUEST EDITED ULTIMATE G&T WEEKEND GUIDE |
Melbourne-raised, Shoreditch-based DJ Kaz James is one busy man. Having just got back from playing The Great Wall of China, he's off again to party at the Ibiza Music Summit this week, ahead of his new summer single Show Me Your Love. Inbetween touring you can find him recording above his coffee shop, Shoreditch Grind, and working on collaborative projects – one with Chad Hugo of N.E.R.D is in the pipeline. That doesn't mean he doesn't have time for the Ultimate G&T. Read on to see Kaz's gin edits. Kaz is playing the opening IMS Dalt Vila party tonight, so follow us on Instagram and Twitter to watch it go down!

KAZ'S ULTIMATE G&T |
Shoreditch Grind |
My Ultimate G&T of choice is from espresso bar Shoreditch Grind (which I conveniently co-own). I'll often nip downstairs mid-recording for a treat, and it's not necessarily a coffee. The Shoreditch Grind G&Ts are (very aptly) served in latte glasses – they'll also do something bespoke for you if you so desire (not necessarily with coffee!). UJ also recommends their terrace on summer evenings. |

EAT:
Bo London A La Carte Menu |
Kings X has had its culinary revamp – now it's time for some American retail love. Enter the J Crew Pop Up. Setting up for two days only in the Western Transit Station (fittingly next to Central Saint Martins), and selling its SS13 line (eyes on the darling sweater for her and the Ludlow suit for him) they will also have bespoke jewelled collars and Italian cashmere – monogram optional. UJ's top tip — get there early, we predict a fashion frenzy. |
Having pushed culinary boundaries with his 12-course 'X-treme Tasting Menu' (Google his Sex On The Beach dish...), acclaimed Michelin-starred chef Alvin Leung is now going the full fancy with an a la carte menu at Bo London, which will sit somewhere between the dim sum and tasting menus. Dine on more conservative (but still intricate) dishes such as diver scallops, black cod, wagyu beef and suckling pig. |

KAZ'S ULTIMATE G&T FOOD PAIRING |
Meatmission |
If I'm drinking gin with dinner, I usually go for some dude food, ideally a burger and chips. UJ recommends a Dead Hippie with some chilli cheese fries from MEATmission (and it's down the road from Shoreditch Grind). Plus – you can reserve tables. Finally! |

EAT:

PARTY:
Krankbrother Day & Night Terrace Party |
Our favourite Hackney Italian eatery Lardo has just opened a rooftop sister restaurant down the road. Welcome, Coppa. Expect a BBQ Italian style — think antipasti and frittes, coupled with deck chairs and an open-air cocktail bar. For the parkside dwellers, The Coppa Cart will be in full throttle in London Fields, serving up spiedinis (skewers), shaved granitas (topped with Coppa's home-made cordials), hot dogs, and Gelupo gelato sandwiches. |
DJ duo Krankbrother are back to kick off their summer season, and they're doing it White Isle style. Expect to krank (sorry) it up as they blast out their signature electro beats for a 13-hour shake down at a secret location. Giving the bros a helping hand will be electro stalwarts Marc Houle, Dinky, DJ T and Rodriguez Jr. There'll also be a BBQ, courtesy of Beagle, for some mid-party sustenance. We've got a pair of tickets to give away for the party. To enter, simply email jack@krankbrother.com. |

KAZ'S ULTIMATE AL FRESCO PICK |
Mamboats |
My favourite al fresco drinking spot would have to be a boat off the coast of Ibiza. If anyone knows boats it's the Mambo brothers. Book the Mamo, head to Formentera – UJ recommends stopping at Beso Beach Club – and make sure the fridge is stocked. |

PARTY:
Derrick Carter does Disco |
Ever wondered why the Birkin bag comes attached with a price tag that could feed a small country? Head to the Festival Des Métiers – a rendezvous with Hermès craftspeople – to find out why. Experience the behind-the-scene action as the Hermès lot demonstrate their mastery on leathers, watches and jewellery. You'll find us at the live scarf printing. |
The discothèque still prevails. Derrick Carter, King of the underground scene, is taking a break from his signature house beats and going D-I-S-C-O. For one night only, the Chicago native will take control of the glitter ball with the help of disco connoisseur Henry Greenwood (man behind the 15-minute Roller Disco mix) for a night of classic cuts and 70s style antics. Sunday night fever, anyone? |

Kaz's ULTIMATE Summer Pick |
Le Grand Bazaar at Ushuaïa with Pete Tong |
There's not much that can beat playing The Great Wall of China in terms of my highlights this year, but I'm really looking forward to Ibiza this summer. I've left Pacha after 10 years to be a resident at new club Bomba. I'm also looking forward to Pete Tong's new party, Le Grand Bazaar, every Friday at Ushuaïa. He's planning to bring daytime clubbing back to the island, and there'll be special guests (Hot Natured, Fatboy Slim and Carl Cox are already confirmed) every week for the summer season. |

KAZ'S ULTIMATE G&T RECIPE |
Bombay Sapphire Ultimate G&T Twist by Sam Carter |
"I like sweet flavours – like lemon and orange – but I also love Dirty Martinis and Italian Food".
With that in mind, Bombay Sapphire mixologist Sam Carter put a dirty twist on the Ultimate G&T for Kaz.
Ingredients:
35ml Bombay Sapphire
15ml Martini Bianco Vermouth
5ml olive brine (from the jar of the olives)
50ml Fever-Tree Mediterranean tonic water
50ml Fever-Tree soda water
Garnish:
3 juicy green olives spiked by a sprig of rosemary
Lemon & orange peel twist
Method:
Fill a clean Bombay Sapphire balloon glass 4/5ths full of good quality cubed ice. Stir with a bar spoon to chill the glass then strain off the water. Pour in the Martini Bianco Vermouth, olive brine and Bombay Sapphire then stir to mix fully. Top with equal parts of Fever-Tree tonic water and soda water then stir gently again. Garnish with a lemon and orange peel twist spritzed over the drink and finalise with 3 juicy green olives spiked by a sprig of rosemary. |
