This weekend it's all about live music, new restaurants, relaunches and goodbyes. Chicago and Japan are satisfying our appetites, whilst Aeroplane and Real Lies are giving us our music fix. For design junkies, it's your final chance to say goodbye to Battersea Power Station. And on the fashion front, we chat LFW, with a high-fashion pop up thrown in for good measure.

There's a new way to watch cult films in the City, as the hit cinematic 4D experience from last year's Sydney Festival comes to the Barbican this October. Two eccentric B-movies from the 1960s are brought back to life with new live soundtracks, onstage actors and scary sound effects. Pure pre-Lynchian small town horror Carnival of Souls kicks off a Sunday of vintage terror in the atmospheric setting of the 18th century church LSO St Luke's, followed by Francis Ford Coppola's gothic psycho-thriller Dementia 13.

EAT:
Village East Bermondsey |
DRINKS:
Chotto Matte |
Foodie fave Village East is relaunching. Having pioneered the SE neighbourhood as a culinary hot spot, the restaurant and bar are shaking things up with a gust from the Windy City's cuisine. Expect sharing plates of milk-braised pork shoulder with kale and parsley, soft shell crab baps and roasted fig radicchio, with the cocktail menu showing the same pizzazz – think beetroot Bloody Marys and Gin Gin's (gin, watermelon, rhubarb bitters and aperol). |
Chotto Matte is the latest Nippon injection to Soho, and it's a big one. From Kurt Zdesar, the man responsible for bringing Nobu to London, it's gone all Nikkei on us, aka Peruvian and Japanese fusion. The building (yes, building) is three-levels (restaurant, Robato grill and raw bar on top) with the cocktail bar ground level. Expect retractable glass windows, live DJs, pisco, shochu, and sake cocktails and neon – lots of it. But the best bit, last orders are at 2am. |

Best of festival no.6 |
UJ + BELVEDERE INSTAGRAM REPORTER |
We teamed up with our friends at Belvedere and sent one UJ winner (and 3 of their friends) to Festival No. 6 as our Instagram reporter. Here's what our winner, Nick Bowden had to say: |
"Festival No. 6 is the best festival I've ever been to. I'm still wearing a stupid grin after Chic + Nile Rodgers, dancing in the sun to Andrew Weatherall, dancing in the rain to Crazy P, Belvedere breakfast Bloody Marys, poetry reading by the beach, a castle, a storm, and a rave in the woods. Best of all was dancing with friends I've known for years (and friends I made that day). See you next year, Portmeirion!" |

Battersea Power Station |

80s pop, new disco and some R 'n' B classics – it's the Neon Noise Project.
Held in the intimate Lightbox venue, Belgium producer Aeroplane steps up for a 6 hour set with his usual mix of new disco remixes. Think a bit of Grace Jones, a bit of Sebastian Tellier and an LED-walled dance floor.

London Open House festival is back, giving us a sneak peek into some of London's most iconic buildings (830 properties in total), including our top pick, Battersea Power Station. Get in quick to wander the alcoves and say your goodbyes to this inter-war period building before it gets turned into apartment blocks (boo!). Join the walking tour (bear with us) as the architects and engineers of the refurbishment will be on hand to talk nooks, crannies and future plans. |

THE GREAT BEAUTY |
What do you get when you mix Simone Rocha and Cointreau Privé? Light Bar, the latest pop up at St Martins Lane. Rocha's vibrant aesthetic shines through the speakeasy (expect red ceiling drapes, rose motifs and vintage mismatched glassware). With 12 Cointreau cocktails on the menu (we like the pomegranate and chilli Passion and Pepper), you can't go wrong. Get in fast – it closes this weekend. |
We're calling it: this is the must-see film of the season. Dream team Paolo Sorrentino and Toni Servillo are at it again, creating a masterpiece set in Fellini-esque Rome. Wealthy hedonist Jed is a once-great novelist cursed with writer's block, spending his 60s in a haze of opulent, carnival-like parties. In his search for true meaning beneath the city's polished surface, corruption, hypocrisy and the beauty of Rome collide in a complex love letter to the city. |

London Fashion Week roundup |
SS14 |
SS14 is taking us deep sea diving. Coral and seafoam shades adorned the catwalks of Simone Rocha and Peter Pilotto, whilst Antipodium introduced us to an all grown up Little Mermaid by way of iridescent sheers and gossamer metallics. The rest of the runways bathed in saturated pastels and stark whites, with Burberry (the main culprit) going OTT with the candy shades. Fabrics – sheer, lace and suede, done all ways. Off the catwalk – sneakers frowed (sports luxe is here to stay), PVC was the fabric du jour and bunny ears by way of Comme des Garçons where the fash hat must-have, whilst food-wise it was sushi and sweets all the way. And if you didn't make it to the shows, it was all about Insta-video. Away from Somerset House, the EDITION hotel was the go to - from models and editors resting their heads, to the launches, W party takeover and our fave fashion week drinks: slushies and punch. Now off to Milan… |
