ONE–STOP SHOPS

Dining, drinking and dancing under one roof

It's the age-old London question. Where can you go to wine and dine, drink and dance – all under one roof? Surprisingly, it's a difficult one. There are some – The Rum Kitchen, Casa Negra, Rock Lobsta at Mahiki and Shoreditch House – but there's never been an abundance of choice. Recently, however, there's been a new wave of fun 2-in-1 openings.

First up: Ruski's Caviar and Vodka Tavern. Yes, it's in Kensington and yes, it's a 'society' den but with Diego Bivero-Volpe and Antóin Commane of Bodo's Schloss behind it, you know tongue-in-cheek with a bit of kitsch is where it's at. Expect to eat like a tsar and drink like a comrade, with caviar club sandwiches, black bread and smoked salmon, and steak tartare. Drinking vessels are Matryoshka dolls and tea urns, whilst caviar and vodka flights are the shots du jour.

And it's not just the Ruskis having all the fun. The London EDITION hotel has us starting in Berners Tavern, mingling in The Punch Room, and dancing in The Basement fuelled by slushies. Moving to the West End, Professor Green has taken his East End roots and given us INK, a club that says goodbye to the late night kebab run with an after-hours menu of cheesy chips, beans on toast, and Scotch eggs. Oi oi.

In Soho, Kurt Zdesar's latest late night haunt Chotto Matte is three floors of Nikkei (Peruvian-meets-Japanese cuisine) fun. Upstairs there is the restaurant, robata grill and name-your-price raw bar fit for a king, literally (the sushi chef's previous credentials include working for the Emperor of Japan) with last orders at 1am, whilst downstairs the party kicks off with Japanese cocktails of the saké, shochu and pisco variety, neon artworks, and a DJ that spins until 2am.

And that's just the start. Stay tuned for a Shoreditch triple threat coming soon, more on the Ace, some rumtastic vibes in Kingly Court, and Mayfair's latest addition No.41.

All we can say is: well done London, it's about time.
