We're officially Frieze(ing)! We're checking out some traditional art, not-so traditional art, electro art, and are even indulging in food and champagne doused in art. Heading to Paris? We've got some art picks there, too! But for those going on the art offensive, there's yet another quirky sandwich offering (trend alert!), a fairy tale and a Saturday night Shimmy.

PARTY:
Kitsuné Maison x The Lexington |
A supper club dishing up half raw, half cooked ingredients with fruit and vegetable cocktails may not be our usual go-to Friday night indulgence, but when done by Will Hemming (a chef for Pret A Diner), we say book now. 50:50 Synaesthesia is all about merging food, art and drink into one organic menu. A “chew no evil, bite no evil, swallow no evil” healthy food philosophy prevails, with dishes such as smoked scallops served with three-way peas and pancetta crisps, sous vide ox cheeks with dehydrated horseradish kale, and raw coconut and cashew nut marshmallows for dessert. As for the art, expect your meals served on painters' palettes. |
Kitsuné Maison is back and celebrating the release of their latest compilation Kitsuné Maison 15. Set to feature the next crop of musical talent from the record label, including UJ faves Andrew Armstrong and John Sambrooke a.k.a. Horixon. Taking over the Lexington for an intimate 200 capacity party, the event will feature live performances by the Years & Years, electro popsters Schwarz Don't Crack, and French newbie band Techniques. And with the DJ corner filled by Kitsuné favourites Citizens!, Punks Jump Up and Birmingham's indie ravers Jake Bullit, you won't want to leave 'til 4am. |

FRIEZE FOOD ROUNDUP |
ART x FOOD |
For those needing a bit of in-between sustenance while Frieze-ing, you're in luck: this year, the art fair has upped its culinary game with a host of newcomers. Start the rounds on the outdoor deck at Pizza Pilgrims' margherita bar; for meatier options, head over to Pitt Cue Co. for their smoky offerings (and picklebacks) or Yum Bun's steamed buns. If you need a coffee break, Caravan is setting up shop with a selection of favourites from its brunch and all-day restaurant menu. Over at Frieze Masters, look for Michelin-starred Locanda Locatelli and a Nippon injection with bento boxes and Japanese cocktails from Umu. Bon appétit!

PARTY:
Shimmy London |
The National Theatre has pulled out all the stops for their latest musical The Light Princess. Directed by Marianne Elliott (The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time and War Horse) and with Tori Amos behind the score, this promises to show off with musical, technical and visual wows. Playing until January 9, the story is a dark, wintery fairy tale about a grief-stricken princess (Rosalie Craig) who escapes the physical trappings of the world. Expect war, romance, flying and wild puppet creations. Get booking, now.

For those still mourning the loss of cherryjam, good news – the former West London night spot has been reincarnated into Shimmy London, thanks to Hugo Heathcote (E.T.A and Love Brunch) and Deji Carr (Love Brunch). Beefing up the late night options in Notting Hill, the club is all about the wonderland vibe – think wardrobe staircases, a Scrabble-tiled bar and optical illusions. And if you need some snacks, it's Taiwanese bun sliders all around. |

EAT:
Red Dog American Sandwiches |
SEE:
The Four Letter Word + Other Criteria |
We're not done with the American invasion just yet. Red Dog American Sandwiches has thrown open its doors to give Hoxtonites their fill of State-style subs. The menu features 15 hot and cold sandwiches such as the Philly Cheese Steak (with finely sliced aged Scottish rib eye, onions and provolone), the traditional New Orleans Po'boy (southern fried catfish, rémoulade, lettuce, tomato and pickles) and the Red Dog Reuben (hickory-smoked pastrami or salt beef with Swiss cheese and Russian dressing with a choice of coleslaw or sauerkraut). Not a sandwich fan? There are always the dawgs. |
Now for UJ's Frieze pick – The Four Letter Word by Richie Culver showcases the artist's use of words within collages and paintings with recurring themes of life, death, sex, loss, and addiction. For those not up to speed, Richie Culver designed a range of t-shirts for clothing brand Cécile, while his forthcoming project with Diesel and Nicola Formichetti puts him firmly on the ones to watch list. While you're at the Sanderson, duck into Other Criteria's pop up wardrobe for some cultured browsing (and buying) of prints, limited editions and art books by British artists including Damien Hirst, Mat Collishaw and Sarah Lucas. |

TOUR PARIS 13 |
If you're swapping London's arty offerings this weekend for a more Parisian affair, skip the traditional tourist trail and head to Tower 13. For the month of October, a former nine storey residential building along the Seine, earmarked for demolition, will be an exhibition of work by 105 street artists – using the building itself as their canvas. Entrance is free, but get there early, as access to the site is limited to 49 visitors at a time.
