The big freeze has hit, but we're not done with our rooftops, terraces and beer gardens – shorter days just mean longer nights. And we're not talking about braving the elements but rather, warming up winter.
With that in mind, UJ is doing winter the Converse way. To launch its winter ready Chuck Taylor All Star Holiday 2013 Collection comes a month-long series of events focused on having fun and staying warm, outside. Working with local artists, a pub in each of the four corners of the capital has had its garden transformed into a winter-friendly watering hole – think luxe sheepskins, heat lamps aplenty and quirky installations – giving the usually barren winter spaces a new lease of life. And being Converse, they're leaving a footprint. The local boozers will stay transformed for a while after the event, meaning the mercury is on the up. London is getting winterized!
Weekly events will include names such as BBC radio presenter Huw Stephens, comedian and actor Adam Buxton and a live gig with UJ faves Lianne La Havas and Swim Deep. To kick-start the series, Converse is taking over The Old George in Bethnal Green on November 9 for a screening of the classic good times film, Wayne's World. Expect wood-fired pizzas, winter-warmer cocktails and even a performance by the London Metropolitan Orchestra String Quartet – Bohemian Rhapsody here we come.
We have 20 pairs of tickets to give away so if you want in, click here to fill out our competition form.
Stay tuned for our weekly updates about upcoming events, with information on how to get tickets.
Till then,
Party time, excellent! (Sorry, we couldn't resist.) |
