Weekend Guide

The BAFTAs, The Brits, LFW…everyone's been in London this week. Brad and Angelina showing up at Berners, Prince onstage at Ronnie Scott's, and Anna Wintour finally making it to the front row (after getting stranded in Newcastle)- it's been fun. To keep it going, check out some Juergen Teller adorned bus stops (yes, really), amp up the style stakes with a new haircut, and don't miss Ibiza coming to Brixton. Otherwise, try an old Japanese favourite in a shiny new location, save your pennies with a soft launch, and get your shopping sorted -remember it's Vodafone London Fashion Weekend, too.

SEE:
JUERGEN TELLER BUS STOPS
  EAT:
ROKA MAYFAIR

Forget black cabs, buses just got a bit more fashionable. TFL and Annin Arts gallery have joined forces to exhibit the work of master lensman Juergen Teller – on the roofs of bus stops. Ten sites along the Strand (conveniently located next to LFW HQ Somerset house) are now sporting Teller's iconic photos: from Kate Moss to Dame Vivienne Westwood and Bjork. The best way to view the exhibition is from the upper deck of a bus. We'll see you on the 243.   The trend for Robata grilled cuisine is still going strong. Rainer Becker's Japanese joint ROKA continues its expansion with the launch of a Mayfair outpost. Decked out by Noriyoshi Muramatsu, the restaurant balances old and new with oxidized copper and reclaimed wood, plus a focal plush wall handpainted with Japanese prints. Expect the Robatayaki favourites that made the original restaurant a hit, such as glazed baby back ribs with cashew nuts, alongside newcomers like rice hot pot with lobster. There's also an outdoor terrace…bring on summer nights.

EAT:
HOLBORN DINING ROOM & DELICATESSEN
  PARTY:
MUSIC ON AT ELECTRIC BRIXTON

Welcome to Des McDonald's latest opening. Styled as a modernist British brasserie, the menu offers everything from Dorset Rock to Hereford Sirloin Steak…and we hear the cult fritters from the Fish & Chip shop have made the jump, too. The delicatessen (which opens directly onto High Holborn) will serve up coffee and lunch for those passing by. The restaurant is currently doing a soft launch, with 50% off meals until February 24, so book in stat!   If you missed out on tickets for Marco Carola's first London show this year, you're in luck - Music On, in conjunction with DC7 and Fire in Session, has announced a second night at Electric Brixton, with the EDM legend joined by Leon and Re-Up. The line up is bringing some Ibiza flavour to Brixton (it may be the closest thing to the White Isle 'til we jet off this summer) and the prices are IBZ-style too, with tickets going for £50 and VIP tables for £3000.

SHOP:
DOVER STREET MARKET
  GROOMING:
THE DRAWING ROOM

All this talk of fashion has us wanting to drop some cold hard cash on clothes. First stop? Dover Street Market. You'll find the usual suspects-plenty of Comme, plus wares from up and comers like Simone Rocha and there's art to appreciate, too. The Institute of Contemporary Art (formerly housed in the Dover Street site) is staging a takeover, with images from their pop art archives displayed across all of the store's six floors. That's your shopping and culture fix for the weekend sorted.   You know we're all about barbershops these days. Spitalfields newcomer The Drawing Room (located in an 18th century townhouse) is the latest hair hotspot on our radar. With salon director Oskar Pera fresh from styling the tresses at LFW (Erdem and Peter Pilotto, to name a few), the salon caters to both men and women, and opens (for appointments only) today. Be first in to get your hair did-from a gentlemans' cut and finish to bespoke balayage, they do it all. Plus, all new customers get 20% off on their first appointment. Easy.

LONDON FASHION WEEK AW14

UJ ROUNDUP

Whether you were in the front row or your invites got lost in the mail, here are our highlights from planet fashion.

Party Spot: When the last model walked the runway, it was all about Andre Balazs' Chiltern Firehouse.

Everyone Was Wearing: Eye popping Shrimps faux fur coats were the outerwear of choice. Should you want to get your hands on one, we hear Net-a-Porter will be stocking them next season.

Fuel: Juice, juice, and more juice. If you can say no to a gratis bottle of Plenish (normally £12.50), you're a better person than us…we stockpiled. On the flip side of the coin, Ping's new pizza delivery service was a godsend for the hangry.

Fashion Face-off: J.W. Anderson vs. Christopher Kane. Newly backed by French powerhouses (LVMH and Kering), the designers brought their A-game, with androgynous tailoring from Anderson and sculptural spiral sleeves from Kane. We'll take a bit of both, thanks.

Most Suprising Show: The Hunter Originals show had an unexpected star-studded front row and models in wellingtons stomping down a catwalk deluged with rain.

Instagram Bait: The Star Wars motifs at Preen (also seen at Rodarte during NYFW) and Tom Ford's team jerseys saturated our social media feeds.

Trend Takeaway: A neon rave influence (L.E.D. platform shoes at Ashish, smiley face bags at Anya Hindmarch) injected humour into the proceedings; Everyone was talking about outerwear (Holly Fulton's art deco coats were a highlight, as were the monogrammed ponchos at Burberry), and the colourful fur frenzy at Christopher Kane, Peter Pilotto and Roksanda Ilincic.
