Because who doesn’t like a free burrito? If you haven't heard already, all this week until 11 August, Chipotle Mexican Grill has been giving away 14,000 free burritos (yep, that’s 2,000 a day) to the first who find its daily 24-hour websites. And to make it slightly more interesting, the daily websites will be presented in a ‘speed reading’ format - where individual words making up the website will flash up momentarily. |
|
The 24-hour websites will appear every day until 11 August via Chipotle UK’s social media channels: Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Participants can also follow #BurritoWatch for more information and to find the daily 24-hour websites. For more information visit: chipotle.co.uk |

EAT:
BOBO Social |
|
DRINK:
EAST LONDON LIQUOR COMPANY |
|
Down the road from the mecca of gourmet dawgs comes another such restaurant but this time, it’s gourmet burgers and cocktails. Welcome the aptly named Bobo Social. Expect a menu of lobster and crab, peanut butter and wagyu, and truffle burgers complete with an extensive cocktail menu. If this all seems a bit too standard for you, head there on experimental night, aka Monday, and create your own burgers with a range of exotic meats: think kangaroo, zebra, alligator, venison and ostrich… so wrong it’s right, maybe? |
|
Now to the other side of town at the East London Liquor Company, a distillery making handcrafted spirits - gins, vodka and whiskies (many for under £20) - with a cocktail bar attached. Head to the bar at the back and order a banana daiquiri (clear, served up in a coupe – no swim up styles here) before making your way through their more inventive list. We’ll be starting with the beetroot, pickle and whisky concoctions, followed by a lime cordial cocktail before grabbing a bottle to take home. Our pick? The Californian ‘Polynesian Inspired’ rum. |

Shoreditch’s favourite hole-in-the-wall (and stalwart before the ‘shordification’) is turning 8! To mark the occasion, Casita is doing what they do best and throwing a tequila-drenched fiesta, 8/8. EAT:
Three Eight Four |
|
VISIT:
Raw Press |
|
We wouldn't normally recommend 'Global Cuisine' but when it comes from the boys behind Brixton’s winning cocktail bar, Seven, expect good things. Their latest tapas and cocktail joint Three Eight Four is all about small plates from around the world (reuben sliders, pinchos moruno, ceviche…) and seasonal cocktails. From ‘Tart ‘n’ Tides - whisky, lemon served with a seaweed ice ball - to ‘Bombay Kitchen’s - spiced gin and rum coriander, mint, Tabasco with mango juice - these kids know what their doing. |
|
Take a break from all the cocktailing and head to the city’s latest juice bar, Raw Press. The café, located downstairs in Wolf & Badger’s Dover Street store will be all about daily-squeezed, cold-pressed vegetable and fruit juices. And unlike their Notting Hill branch, from Monday onwards a breakfast and lunch menu will be available – all curated by the poster girl for the new-gen health wave – Deliciously Ella. So for those who want to try her recipes without the kitchen time… |

Reserved: LIMA FLORAL |
|
Lima’s second restaurant |
|
|
|
In a Sentence
Virgilio Martinez’s latest Peruvian haunt. If Lima London is the Michelin ‘serious foodie’ destination, then Lima Floral is its approachable sister.
Décor & Vibe
As with Lima London, the restaurant is casual and basic, although there are subtle design flourishes – expect the wow factor to be served on the plate. For a more atmospheric experience, nab a booth in the piqueos bar downstairs where it’s dimly lit with a sexier vibe.
Flavours
Fresh, sharp and colourful. The sea bream ceviche, Lima’s speciality, is a must to start – slightly sweet, a bit tangy and crunchy, all at once – a prime example of the type of textures, flavours and unusual ingredients used in a single dish. For the mains we had the chicken chalaca, with Andean corn and asparagus and the lamb with black quinoa, blue potato and moreish dry potato. Both were excellent, and – points for the colours and presentation – from blue and black to purple and red, it’s as we said, wow factor. Onto the pisco’s – a highlight. Expect a menu divided into three easy-to-navigate sections; Lima creations, pisco sours, and Lima Fitzrovia specials, the latter includes the Cuento Del Diablo – a chilli pepper infused pisco and UJ fave.
Top Tip
Here, it's all about sharing and being adventurous. Even though there are starters and mains, we say, get a couple from each section and family-style it. Alternatively, dine downstairs on the small plates – that’s where you’ll find us next visit.
Upshot
The food – original and a cut above, but with a reasonable price tag.
