What a weekend! Two new brasseries – one east, one west, a new bar by Rita's (sake lowballs anyone?), a trip down a rabbit hole and a heavy dose of Nick Cave. For those who want more, hit up The Scotch – it's back, baby!

EAT:
Tredwell's
SHOP:
Night Elm
First on the foodie agenda: informal dining via newly opened Tredwell's. The highly anticipated third restaurant from Marcus Wareing strays from the plusher The Gilbert Scott and two-Michelin-star Marcus for a more relaxed brasserie. Smack back in the west end, come here for a fusion of British and global cuisine, as well as some trendy gluten free and vegan dishes (Hispi burrito with bulgur wheat instead of rice and a cabbage wrap). And unlike his other two restaurants, this one won't break the bank.
If, like us, you miss Rita's of yesteryear, good news: the diner is set to recreate the spirit of its Birthday pop up via its new subterranean bar, Night Elm. Expect Asian-inspired snacks such as pork puffs and spicy sesame cucumbers, all washed down with short and strong cocktails: sake bombs, martinis and Japanese whiskies. As for the music, we have it on good authority to expect a jazz filled playlist.

The Scotch of St James |
Since Le Baron packed up its disco ball, we haven't heard much from The Scotch of St James. Until now. Enter London Fashion Week and its slew of after-hours happenings. From J.W.Anderson's on Saturday night with live tunes from Earth, Wind & Fire (a fitting band for the rocker lair), followed by Christopher Kane's on Monday to Yasmin Sewell's post-LFW party tonight, the den of London's crème is clearly back. Now, about that door policy…

PARTY:
The Rabbit Hole at MODE
New restaurant Primeur may have slipped under our radar when it opened back in May, but it has since caught our eye, thanks to its chef credentials of David Gingell (of Bistroteque) and Jérémie Cometto-Lingenheim (Wright Bros) and unique USP – a face to face only booking policy. Needless to say it won't be for everyone, but if you do get a table, expect a daily changing menu of modern European dishes: snails, steak, fish served in the open and airy décor.
On the party circuit tonight we've got carrots, tarts, and wonderland. Meaning… party legends Rabbit Hole are bringing their brand of naughty Glasto-revelry to MODE in Notting Hill. As with both MODE and Rabbit Hole, we don't know much except to stay tuned for secret DJs, live bands, and, of course, psychedelic warren holes, riddles and treasure hunts. Secret potions all round.

NEW FLAVOURS |
Infused booze may be old hat, but we've noticed it's on the rise. From Cubanisto's rum flavoured beer to Jim Beam's infused Red Stag bourbon ( think cherry, honey tea, or cinnamon spice) September so far has been, well, flavourful. But our favourite sip so far has come from new kids on the gin block, Half Hitch. Distilled in The Vaults of Camden Lock and infused with black tea and Calabrian Bergamot blends, it's a winner!

BRUNCH:
BOURNES & HOLLINGSWORTH BUILDINGS
WATCH:
20,000 Days on Earth
And yet another brasserie opening: welcome Bourne & Hollingsworth Buildings. And before you say leather banquette, hear us out. The style here is different – think a stately manor kitted out with garden furniture, printed House of Hackney armchairs and wicker sets. It may be off the beaten track, but that's why we like it. Open daily, come here for breakfast, brunches and dinners of Brit-inspired brasserie food: salmon with butter sauce, goats cheese croquettes and spiced lamb. Plus, let's not forget the cocktail heavy menu and “almost fresco” greenhouse.
Cap off your weekend with docudrama 20,000 Days on Earth. The plot is a simple one: a day in the life of Nick – 24 hours, to be precise. Expect a little bit of reality, drama and fiction as the film delves into the creative process that informed major points in Cave's life and career. Expect a few cameos (Kylie Minogue, Conway Savage…), and, of course, a top-shelf soundtrack.

Goodbye Mayfields |
The end is nigh for one of our favourite restaurants in the E8 ‘hood. Come September 27, Mayfields will bid its final farewell via a last supper. This means a serious meal – and fast flowing wine. Book now. And for those who can't make it on the 27th, we're predicting the same recipe (serious meal, lots of wine…) all the way to the end. One thing is clear: Mayfields may be closing, but we're expecting big things from chef Matthew Young. Watch this space.
