Put your wristbands to good use and make the most of the last remaining days of
London Cocktail Week. Our pick has to be Angostura Butterfly House for its free-flying butterflies, DIY sugar cane juice classes, and killer rum cocktails. Otherwise, there are margaritas aplenty at
Cuervo’s Hacienda
down the road, a cocktail clash at
Nola’s
and a
Tanqueray No. TEN
hub at Mark’s Bar, Hixter to name but a few of the festivities. |

Online dating – from desperate websites to creepy apps – we’re officially done. Too much sifting, too little success! These days we’re looking to go offline. And we don’t mean speed dating in a city bar. No, instead we’re brushing up on our mixing and mingling skills and doing it the UJ way. Meaning fun parties, drinks dates and a pinch of exclusivity. With Social Concierge, that’s exactly what you’ll get. A dating agency that’s more like a members’ club (there’s an application process), once in you’ll receive invites to slick cocktail parties, as well as a personalised service from young London matchmaker Nana Wereko-Brobby. So if you want someone else to sort the potentials from the psychos, this is one membership that’s worth the fees (from £10pcm ).

RBMA presents Theo ParRish ‘All Night Long’
|
|
Swap your usual brunch staples for a no-holds-barred oyster feast at Newman Street Tavern. Part of their Oysterfest 2014, go heavy on the starters – baked, fried, and bacon wrapped oysters – before making your way through the steak and oyster puddings. And let’s not forget the Bloody Marys – faves include the Bloody Caesar (clam juice), Bloody Burns (Pedro Ximenez sherry and whisky) and the Bullshot (beef bouillon). But if BMs aren’t your thing, there’s always the champagne menu….
|
|
There are still tickets left for Theo Parrish’s ‘All Night Long’ party presented by RBMA (they’re already onto their fifth release!). Held at
Plan B
, the Detroit house legend Theo Parrish will headline for an all night 6 + hour set, while next door, homegrown talent Nick Craddock will be dishing out some heavier techno. Get ready for a blow out, the sets finish at 7am.

Veuve Clicquot Recreation Awards |

Design Junkies take note: Veuve Clicquot is hosting a competition to design a Veuve Clicquot… mailbox. Yes we know, random, but there is an explanation. It’s all in celebration of the recently unearthed collection of letters penned by Madame Clicquot, who had a habit of sending letters and champagne to friends and customers. Naturally. The winning design will not only become a 2015 limited edition, but it will be distributed worldwide and revealed at Milan Design Week. The winner will also receive €10,000 and feature in Wallpaper* magazine.

SEE:
What Marcel Duchamp Taught Me
|
|
The ramen wave continues in the capital. After the success of the Dean Street original and Tonkotsu East, the Tonk has set up its third ramen bar, in Selfridges. Of course, there'll be the signature dishes available (Tonkotsu and Tokyo ramen) but, just like the Soho and Haggerston branch, expect a Selfridges-only dish: the Chilli Chicken ramen served with pickled cucumber and gyoza. And next on our ramen radar?
Ippudo. Watch this space!
|
|
We’ve got Marcel Duchamp on the mind (thanks to le Pompidou’s latest exhibition
La peinture, même) and it seems we’re not the only ones. Marking the centenary of Duchamp’s readymades, The Fine Art Society puts the question out there “What has Marcel Duchamp taught Me”? The answers cover the five floors of the Bond Street Townhouse with over 50 artists’ responses, including Chris Levine, Keith Tyson, Gavin Turk and Martin Creed. Compare and contrast their ‘Duchampness’ and you decide the age-old question… did he kill painting?
