Oval Space Music presents Laurent Garnier and Friends
The izakaya trend continues. After its successful soft launch, Shackfuyu, Bone Daddies’ new pop up, has officially opened. Here, the concept is all about Japanese ‘drinking food’ – think trendy Japanese bar snacks. The no reservations Soho epidemic continues, so get in quick before the queues start for hamachi tostadas, roasted scallops with chilli miso butter and mentaiko mac ‘n’ cheese. |
Now for some French vibes. Laurent Garnier, founding father of French techno, is set to shake up the Oval Space tonight. Expect a full night of electro big-hitters as Laurent takes to the decks for a six-hour set, with the help from some ‘surprise’ friends. As expected, all online tickets have sold out but we're told there'll be 50 on the door. Get. There. EARLY. |

Again with Japanese, again with no reservations! But now we’re talking about traditional sushi and teppanyaki at Engawa, Ham Yard Hotel’s new restaurant. Specialising in Kobe beef (vegetarians need not apply), the 29-cover restaurant will be serving two set courses (five or nine) featuring a variety of Wagyu dishes. Go early to bag a spot but, if you have to wait, do so at the sleek sake bar. |
It’s all about vintage shell armchairs, giant gold palm trees and classic cocktails at the new Art Deco bar in Stoke Newington. Brainchild of burlesque performer Emerald Fontaine, the vibe here is, as you would expect, vintage, from the glassware to the sultry blues soundtrack. Come here for killer Manhattans and old-school decadence. Oh, and come March, look out for the cabaret schedule. |

If you haven't checked out LIMA Floral yet for some Peruvian fare, do so this weekend. They’ve added a weekend brunch menu, and it looks good. Choose from either the Andean breakfast, which includes potato pancakes, suckling pig brioche buns and egg frittatas, or go big with the three-course sharing brunch. Add a tenner for free flowing bubbles. Prosecco-ed out, us? Never. |
Forget about flat-packed Ikea furniture and overpriced replicas and instead head to The Vintage Furniture Flea. A fave for the deco crowd, this market is all about impeccable, mid-century modern pieces: think everything 1950s and beyond, from Ercol chairs to G-Plan coffee tables. There's also barware, ceramics, textiles, lighting and more – you’ll find us by the cocktail trolleys. |
