This weekend we have a bit of everything. Two art exhibitions (emerging and luxe), a disco party, a slice of Napoli and a new Chinese gastropub. Plus, there’s a new cocktail spot to be seen at and we’ve even shared our current springtime obsession. Speaking of spring, we’ve done a round up of the new al fresco spots from riversides to rooftops and gardens. Happy weekend! |

Time to shine |
|
|
1. The new brunch menu at Sea Containers launches this weekend… and so does their riverside al fresco area.
2. Blixen's garden. A contender for the prettiest garden in East London? Maybe.
3. The new Ivy Chelsea Garden comes up trumps with its al fresco seating.
4. Jago. Okay, not technically outdoors, but we’re looking forward to brunching in the plastic fantastic bubble.
5. For those in Knightsbridge, check out Peroni’s Floral Italian Roof Terrace on the fifth floor at Harvey Nichols. |

PARTY:
Reasons 2 Be Cheerful |
|
Start the weekend with a perusal of RA’s Burlington Gardens for the annual Converse x Dazed Emerging Artists exhibition. For those not up to speed, this competition, championing new talent, is in its fifth year, so expect to see a milestone showcase of young contemporary artists. Although the winner is announced today, we say, go and judge for yourself. |
|
If a ‘spin weirdo-disco, indie-schmindie, pop, soul ‘n’ rock ‘n’ roll’ is your tonic, go forth to The Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club new Friday disco night, Reasons 2 Be Cheerful. DJs Tony and Dan (The Men Who Fell 2 Earth and Rebel Rebel) will be on decks with a live performance by Petite Meller to entertain all you folks who have nothing better to do than 'dance + drink + screw!’ See you on the DF! |

Brunch:
The Duck & Rice |
|
Drink:
Joyeux Bordel |
|
Alan Yau’s Chinese gastropub, The Duck & Rice, has finally opened! Warm up on the first floor with a Pilsner and bar snacks of fried scampi with chilli wasabi mayo and salt and pepper broad beans before heading upstairs to the restaurant for reinterpreted classics such as kung pao chicken and crispy shredded beef. |
|
The team behind Experimental Cocktail Club have opened their latest venture, Joyeux Bordel. A vinyl-playing, subterranean retreat in the middle of Shoreditch, expect much of the same from the kids behind ECC: expert cocktails (we recommend starting with an Old Cuban), table service and, of course, a selective door policy, but to guarantee yourself a table, simply book ahead. |

SEE:

EAT:
The Circle Pizza Co. |
|
Kelly, Constance and Birkin: we all know the names but do you know the story? Get down to the Saatchi Gallery's Hermès Wanderland exhibition, an immersive experience of nine rooms capturing the Hermès lifestyle – without the price tag. Expect lavish sets, oversized objects and dedicated soundtracks for a dreamy wander through the extensive archive of luggage, clothing, stationery and fine jewellery. Lovely. |
|
Finish the weekend with a taste of Napoli at The Circle Pizza Co. Here, expect the real deal, from the sourdough base made with 100% natural ingredients and the 24-hour process that goes into it (for a light and crispy texture). For a taste of what silver World Pizza Champion (yes, really) Tony can do, we’re told to order the sausage pizza: traditional Italian sausage made by him with fennel and a secret blend of herbs and spices. |
