Blame it on the heat but we’re in the mood to P.A.R.T.Y. So we’ve adopted ‘merica’s 4th of July celebrations, but are doing it the London way. This means an all night Fabric stint, followed by a boozy DJ fuelled brunch. We’re also checking out two new restaurants one meatball, one egg and doing what we do best, a rooftop hop. Plus, we’re checking out some other planets, in the buff – because, why not. Happy weekend!

FRIDAY |

EAT:
Balls & Company |
PARTY:
Naked Boys Reading Club |
We do love a good meatball. So of course we love the news that Soho’s first gourmet meatball restaurant has opened. But banish thoughts of the Ikea food hall – and instead cast your mind to Wagyu beef, confit salmon and quinoa beetroot varieties. Plus, there’ll be a range of sliders and sides and a short but sweet dessert menu. Roll up, roll up! |
Readings, cocktails, astronomy, nudity… just your usual Friday night. Creative science posse Super/Collider have teamed up with Naked Boys Reading to bring a little cosmic realness to the Ace rooftop. Aside from checking out Jupiter, Venus and Saturn through the hotel’s new in-house telescope, naked readers will be deliberating celestial bodies and their influence on poetry and literature. |

The heat is on! Aside from doing a rooftop hop, you’ll find us, ciders in hand at the Kopparberg Urban Forest, for the next few days. Thursday and Friday it’s all about eating, drinking and dancing from food stands, cider bars and live bands. Come Saturday, we’re getting inked (temporarily) in the pop up tattoo parlour to the sounds of So Fresh So Clean, Tuckshop and Soundwave Festival. And Sunday is all about hip-hop legend Miss Dynamite. Get in the mood here. |

EAT:
Egg Break |

PARTY:
4th of July at Fabric
with Jamie Jones |
Another ‘niche’ restaurant – but now we’re cracking eggs. Egg Break by Soho House has opened in Notting Hill. Egg baps (with pork belly, sausage, fried chicken and bacon), avocado with chilli on toast, broken eggs with chorizo… these are eggs done all ways, all day long. Egg-cellent. |
Tonight, we’re taking to Fabric for its 4th of July party. In room one, Jamie Jones will be on decks with tech-house maestro DJ Craig Richards and producer The Revenge; in room two, the Secretsundaze kids will be giving it their all; and in room three, 10 years of Kubicle and Death on the Balcony will be fueling the party ‘till early morn. |

DO:
Thierry Noir: Jazz |
CELEBRATE:
American Independence Day at Balthazar |
Infamous Berlin Wall artist Thierry Noir (he was the first to graffiti the Wall) is yet again splashing Shoreditch with his signature bright colours. His second exhibition at the Howard Griffin Gallery, entitled Jazz, will be, unsurprisingly, focused on music and cover every inch of the gallery space with colour – the walls, floor and ceiling, plus a few custom made Noir instruments and sculptures. Head in for some hypercolour history. |
If a canon of an electro party at Fabric isn’t your style, try a civilised brunch at Balthazar. And being a New York institution, they’ve gone the extra mile. Bloody Mary pitchers, fancy hot dogs, “le sandwich Américain”, stars and stripes cookies, union macaroons, New York yellow cabs outside and DJ Amber Le Bon on the decks. What else do you need? |
