It's been a hectic couple of weeks (London Fashion Week, London Design Week…Meatopia), and we’re not going to lie, we’re happy things are quieting down. Our weekend schedule includes: Turkish food with a side of heavy metal, a summer closing party, and another egg restaurant. Plus, we’re still feeling some LFW inspo, so we’ve rounded up our favourite young designers to watch and splurged on some NY cool …in Mayfair. Happy weekend.

3. Caitlin Price – This Central Saint Martins graduate is inspired by streetwear shapes in pastel monochromes

4. Richard Malone – Expect an amalgamation of bright oranges and pinks paired down with black-on-white lines

5. This is The Uniform – Designer Jenna Young’s take on new-age uniforms interpreted from the uniforms of Blackpool’s past

FRIDAY

EAT:
Vietfood
  DO:
Tom Dixon ‘Multiplex’

Hakkasan Mayfair’s ex-head chef, Jeff Tan, has joined the trend and gone street. His new restaurant, Vietfood, offers his take on Vietnamese street classics such as crispy seafood balls with parmesan mint cheese, coconut calamari with sweet chilli herb sauce, and Vietnamese grilled chilli sirloin. Spread over two storeys on Wardour Street, head in for a cheap but cheerful lunch or dinner.   As part of London Design Festival, Tom Dixon is showing us his vision of the future via an “immersive, multi-sensory department store of tomorrow’. The disused space will explore everything from technology, home, and fashion to beauty, jewellery, and food via a rotation of events, installations, pop-ups and… interventions. And, yes, it is a Dixon pop up so expect a sleek and shiny future, filled with lamps. Lots of lamps.

PARTY:
YOU CAN’T HANDLE THE ROOF Summer closing party
  EAT:
Black Axe Mangal

This weekend we’re saying au revoir to one of our favourite rooftops, Netil360. The all-day party will kick off to the bass sounds of Suntrap, before moving to some post-5pm disco tunes via DJ Jonny Tawn. Expect a day of food, booze and views. Goodbye summer, hello winter.   Turkish Mangal and Ocakbasi, to a metal soundtrack and cocktails by Ryan "Mr Lyan" Chetiyawardana – safe to say, we’ve been looking forward to this opening. Headed by Chef Lee Tiernan, who cut his teeth at St John before starting his ‘Metal and Mangal’ pop up in Copenhagen, is now back in a permanent home in Islington. We’re told to expect dishes such as anchovy-crusted pork jowl, roast suckling kid and lamb offal.

EAT:
THE GOOD EGG
  SHOP:
Alexander Wang

The highly anticipated Good Egg opens this weekend. Having been a pop up for the last two years, the crowd-funded restaurant has settled down on Stoke Newington. The menu of short rib pastramis, beef and bone marrow burgers, bagels done all ways and stuffed pitas are the product of the owners’ travels and childhoods, from Tel Aviv to Montreal and California, so the story goes. Come here from lunch to dinner. As for us, we’ll be trying to score a weekend brunch table.   Sports luxe, off-duty model looks and NY grunge… we can only be talking about Alexander Wang. Check out the full range of Wang's men's and women's ready-to-wear, T by Alexander Wang and accessories collections, as well as his first limited-edition, 10-year capsule collection. Mayfair just got cool.

SNEAK PEEK

Louis Vuitton SERIES 3

In a sentence
After the success of Louis Vuitton SERIES 1 and SERIES 2, the French fashion house has hit London with SERIES 3.

About
Housed on the Strand, adjacent to Somerset House, SERIES 3 is a modern and unexpected space for a reinterpretation of the Autumn/Winter 2015 Louis Vuitton collection, fashion show, inspirations and collections. Expect juxtaposition, exposure and minimalist clean-cut lines set against explosive textures and interactive displays. This exhibition is a no expense spared tech fest.

Highlights
Laser installations, catwalk projections and free LV memorabilia for the taking. And, just like the brand, this exhibition is sleek – from the immaculately dressed staff and friendly check ins at the front desk to the Bistrotheque pop up in the lounge.

Top tip
Beat the crowds. Book a post-work visit (it’s open until 8pm) and you could find yourself alone in the installation rooms (as we did), a rarity for an exhibition of this size. Oh, and bring your camera, you won’t hear “NO PHOTOS” here.

Info
SERIES 3, 10am-8pm, September 21- October 18. 180 Strand, WC2R 1EA. For further information and to book click here.
