| Unexpectedly, October has hit with an influx of openings and lots of parties. Damien Hirst’s Newport Street Gallery is in the headlines, but we’re also making a beeline for Martin Morales’ Peruvian gallery. Away from the galleries, Sri Lankan food is about to hit the big time and fashion designer Hussein Chalayan has taken a theatrical turn. Event wise – London Cocktail Week, London Restaurant Festival and Halloween parties are filling up our diaries fast. |

| The people that brought you Michelin-starred Indian restaurants Gymkhana and Trishna now have another lesson in how to do South Asia cuisine, this time focusing on Sri Lanka and Tamil Nadu. The heart of the menu will be based on regional savoury pancake classics: hoppers and dosas. There will also be ‘snacks’ and ‘rice and roast’ dishes: rotis, biryani and Tamil spit chicken. Bets are on for another Michelin… |

| First he brought a taste of authentic Peruvian food to London, and now, chef and art collector Martin Morales is launching London’s first gallery dedicated to Peruvian art. Ceviche Old St Gallery will exhibit works from over 50 Peruvian artists, with all profits going to a charity. The first show, ‘Birth’, includes Peruvian illustrators, graphic artists, pop artists and photographers, some of whom have previously featured works at the Saatchi Gallery, TATE Modern, Art Basel and ARCO. |

| Thanks to new clubbing series Clock Strikes 13, the London nightlife scene is getting a shake up. By the guys behind The Hydra, CS13 will run across three months of Friday and Saturday nights from October to December in different venues across London. Get ready for weekends of sweat-infused d’n’b, house and hip hop through to grime, techno and everything in between, bringing together music labels, influential artists and up ‘n’ comers. |

| Fashion designer and artist Hussein Chalayan has taken a theatrical turn – his debut production Gravity Fatigue combines his design aesthetic with contemporary dance to create a “transformational imaginary world” based on themes of identity, displacement and disconnection. Expect the modern minimalism Chalayan is known for, expressed through mediums of dance, costume and technology. Book now to avoid disappointment – there are only four performances. |

| Artist Damien Hirst is all set to open his South London gallery displaying over 3,000 pieces – many of which are from his own personal collection – including works by Jeff Koons and fellow YBAs Francis Bacon and Sarah Lucas. Head in for the collections, but also for the space itself. The 3,437-square-metre Newport Street Gallery stretches over five buildings, old and new, between Vauxhall and Lambeth North and, in vintage Hirst style, includes a ‘Pharmacy’ restaurant. |
