EAT:
German Gymnasium |
PARTY:
The Double R |
The German Gymnasium has been highly anticipated for a while now – and not just for its food (classic Mittel-European), but for the actual building itself. The former gymnasium was the first purpose-built gym in England and home to the first-ever indoor Olympic Games in 1866. And now, it’s King’s Cross’ largest al fresco terrace, a patisserie counter, an all-day Grand Café serving breakfast through to dinner, a restaurant, and even a cocktail bar serving breathable booze… |
According to our friends at Mixmag, tonight’s Double R label showcase at The Pickle Factory shouldn’t be missed. Fast-rising STABLO/Double R label manager Jamie Fry and Romanian DJ/producer Suciu are on decks, followed by Berliner Dana Ruh, who’ll be headlining with her contemporary minimal house and techno beats.

EAT:
White Truffle Dinner at Margaux |
DRINK:
Dinerama |
We do love truffle season, and this year we’re making a beeline for Margaux’s white truffle dinner. Aside from dining on five courses of truffle heaven (pasta, polenta, eggs en cocotte…), we’re going for the wine. Each course will be paired with wines from the Prunotto vineyards. Fine wine and truffles: perfect. |
It’s back! Dinerama is set for its second season, roofed and winter proofed. And, alongside a host of street vendors (Smokestak, BirdBox, Breddos, Fundi, Baba G’s, BBQ Lab, Duck’N Roll…), they’ve got four brand new bars: Zephyr Bar (50s-inspired cocktails), Dick’s Magic T-Bar (an Alpine ski lodge), Winerama (a wine garden) and… German Sex Dungeon (shots and beer, apparently).

EAT:
Zelman Meats |
SEE:
Juergen Teller at Phillips |
If slow cooked beef on an open fire is your thing, head to Zelman Meats in Soho. They’re keeping the menu short, but experimenting with a changing menu of cuts, from brisket and chateaubriand to burgers, ribs, and Brazilian picanha… everything and anything. Plus, as of next week, they’ll be doing £5 takeaway steak sandwiches. Cue the meat sweats. |
That Kimye shoot by Juergen Teller – you know the one: Kim hiking in a flesh coloured bodysuit, Kanye looking angry, and both just ‘being in love’ in the French countryside, has gone up on the walls of the Phillips Gallery – but only for 10 days (until November 20). Yeezus! |
