| London’s cultural highlights this October |

We’re tackling the onset of autumn with a positive mind-set. Shorter days just mean longer nights. With that in mind, we’ve packed this month’s Culturist with all kinds of after-hours fun, from an all-night party in the arches to a new hedonistic playhouse, we’ve even thrown in an inflatable nightclub. In other news, shuffleboard is the new crazy golf, honey sommeliers are a thing and, in case you didn’t already know, the nineties are back. Enjoy!

The London Shuffle Club |  | | Move over roller discos, crazy golf, and beer pong: shuffleboard is set to sweep (sorry!) London. Taking over the first floor of the Truman Brewery with eight shuffleboard courts, this place is kitted out for fun – so don’t take yourself too seriously, and dig into the American menu (nachos, burgers, dawgs), and slam a few cocktails before trying your hand at shuffleboard (a mashup between 10-pin bowling and curling), before moving on to Corn Hole. If there was ever a time to dig out your visor…

MNKY HSE | | | Mayfair is set for a shake up, first with the opening of MNKY HSE this month, a new drinking and dining venue that fuses a menu of Latin American food and drink. Over two floors, this is billed as a hedonistic playhouse with a bar upstairs and restaurant downstairs, primed for live music and DJ sets. Second, there’s the opening of Street XO next month. Watch this space.

RED BULL MUSIC ACADEMY | | | The Red Bull Music Academy UK tour is back! They’ll be stopping in London from October 18-22 with their usual flurry of shows, lectures and workshops showcasing emerging talent as well as huge global names. As predicted, the Dizzee Rascal and Gorgon City events have sold out, and the rest are selling fast, so be quick, we don’t want to say we told you so.

Frieze London | | | Between the daily schedule of talks, performances, off-site events, and outdoor installations… it’s hard to know where to start with Frieze. Our pick? The nineties, a new section added to the programme that sees galleries across the city revisit seminal exhibitions from the 1990s. We’ll be starting with Wolfgang Tillmans’ very first exhibition, though it’s not held in his father’s cologne shop this time, but at the Daniel Buchholz gallery instead.

Soho House Barcelona | | | The Soho House expansion continues. The new House in Barcelona is located in the Gothic Quarter, overlooking Port Vell marina. Bright Mediterranean colours and traditional Spanish patterned textiles pop against the usual Soho House décor of mid-century European pieces and local antiques. And it’s big, too: 57 bedrooms, club spaces, a roof terrace, Cowshed spa, a gym and two pools. Yes, that’s plural on the pools.
