| Bigger and Better | | | | Over the last few years, London has exploded with under-one-roof venues – one-stop shops to work, eat, drink, and party, taking us seamlessly from day to night. And the trend is growing. From coffee shops that turn into bars to a whole department store of dining, everything you need is now under one roof.
| | First up: one of the most unlikely spots you would want to hang out in, the middle of Old Street roundabout – a.k.a. ‘The Magic Roundabout’ at Old Street Station. Newly reopened for winter revelry, this drink, dine and dance destination has three bars, seating areas, food vendors, and even a dance floor. Keep an eye on the schedule for regular party nights.
Next, come November 21st, London’s first ‘department store of dining’ will be unveiled in the city, in Finsbury Square. The Kitty Hawk will have multiple ‘departments’ to flit between – cocktail bars, a grill restaurant, wine bar, café and patisserie – all in one and open from 7am to midnight.
Lastly, there’s Clerkenwell Grind, the all-mighty seventh branch of the rock ‘n’ roll coffee shops. Sure, they’ve always taken us from day to night, with espressos and flat whites that turn into espresso martinis and flat white Russians. But their latest two-story behemoth promises to be an eating/drinking/late night party hybrid. Have breakfast, lunch and dinner in the dining room and cocktails in the bar next door before descending downstairs to the club.
All for one – and one for all.
