| | | Summer on the Peninsula 19 May - 4 June | | Sponsored Email | | Twitter | Instagram | Facebook | | As soon as the sun comes out, there’s little better than spending hazy summer days (and nights) by the water. Hyde Park by the lake, the Barbican’s terrace, the canals of Hackney Wick – they’re all great, but we’ll be at a new waterside destination this summer – Greenwich Peninsula. We’ve made a few trips to the resident NOW Gallery and Stevie Parle’s CRAFT, but the area’s new summer 2017 events programme has given us a whole list of reasons to visit.
Wrapped by the Thames on all sides, the Peninsula already offers riverside views, street food from Soho’s Lebanese export Yalla Yalla and rooftop beers from Meantime, but the new programme is upping its cultural reputation. In addition to staging Urban Village Fete and an exhibition by Camille Walala, Greenwich Peninsula has teamed up with immersive film aficionados Backyard Cinema to host a series of screenings in a new ‘Abode’ space.
The ‘Abode’ is a design lover’s heaven; curated by Cereal Magazine’s Rosa Park and Rich Stapleton, the minimal penthouse overlooks the Thames, furnished with pared-back pieces. The tranquil outdoor terrace is half urban oasis, half screening area, offering intimate seating for 30 guests. Make your way through the Abode apartment before choosing a seat (and a cocktail) outside for one of BYC’s design-focussed films on the terrace; #UJloves A Single Man (19th May), The Grand Budapest Hotel (20th May), High Rise (3rd June) and Nocturnal Animals (4th June). See you there!
| | | Greenwich Peninsula’s summer screenings run from 19th May-4th June. Tickets are £25 from the BYC website, including cinema ticket, food and drinks. Doors at 7.30pm, food is served at 8pm, and each film starts at 9pm
