| Book in: | | PUBLIC New York | | | | #UJLoves bells and whistles. We love a furore. But when all’s said and done, what more could you really ask for in a hotel than the promise to have “all the comforts of home, but better”? It’s precisely what hospitality don Ian Schrager is aiming for with PUBLIC, his brand new offering for Manhattan. Having gifted the world with the Morgans Group, Studio 54 and the EDITION hotels, you can bet Schrager knows a thing or two about a good night’s sleep. At PUBLIC, he’s created an oasis for escaping the city, whilst remaining right in its midst. Meander through the hotel’s Chrystie Park, get lost in the Bowery Garden or stop by Louis, the PUBLIC market and luncheonette. Schrager has set out to offer luxury for everyone and we’ve got no complaints about that.
| | | Open for bookings from Monday 12th June. Visit PUBLIC’s website for availability and pricing

| SCANDI SOLSTICE: | | Midsommar Weekender | | | | With virtually 24 hour sunlight, it’s no wonder no one does summer solstice quite like Scandinavia. For this year’s celebrations, Absolut is throwing its first Midsommar Weekender with Swedish festival pioneers GFC. Over the solstice, Åhus, a small coastal town, will host a traditional Swedish Midsommar party, inviting Floating Points, El Perro Del Mar, Zebra Katz and A Club Called Rhonda along for good measure. With a capacity of just 1000, this small-scale festival will be the perfect antidote to a muddy Glastonbury; where Pagan rituals will be entwined with contemporary electronica, communal lunches, yoga, maypoles and tarot reading.
| | | Midsommar Weekender runs from 23rd – 25th June at Ovesholm Castle, Åhus, Sweden. Tickets from £354 per person- more information here

| DO NOT DISTURB: | | Don Totu | | | | A few weeks ago UJ spent a couple of nights at Don Totu Dimora Storica, a renovated former palazzo in Salento, Puglia. If you want to discover the foodie culture of southern Italy in an impeccably designed setting that feels more home than hotel, this is the place for you. Don Totu takes “boutique B&B” to whole new levels; the sprawling complex comprises of a Matisse-inspired pool house, outdoor pool, bar and cinema, private gardens, gym and a spa – but has just six bedrooms. For summer this year, the B&B is offering a Puglian cooking course with a local chef (#UJLoves); get booking before it sells out.

| BALEARIC ESCAPE: | | Ibiza Bay Nobu Hotel | | | | We’re always down for an Ibiza start to the summer, so news that Nobu would be opening the doors to its new Ibiza Bay hotel on 30th June was certainly welcome at UJ HQ. Just two km north of Ibiza Town, Talamanca is already our preferred spot for some serious vacation time, and at Ibiza Bay this means seafront pools, cocktails at the chiringuito and a complete range of spa and fitness treatments. Nobu know how easily day slips into night in Ibiza, so they even leave breakfast and lunch timings down to their guests to decide; there’s no need to hurry anything at the Bay.
