…you like football or not, this is a big week to support England, so hopefully tomorrow we’ll be seeing lots of you at Hyde Park (or wherever!) to watch the game. In other news, Covent Garden seems to be continually on the up, with the recent opening of Cora Pearl by the Kitty Fisher’s team, and the soon to open Lady of the Grapes adding to the ever-growing list. And on the music front, it’s Lovebox this weekend, which always feels like the summer halfway mark (sorry); so whatever you do, make the most of it! Lastly, if this Trump balloon gets off the ground, it truly is a great week to be British.

Established names, new territory

All change please! This week, we’re looking at the familiar faces trying something new. Sager + Wilde’s co-founder reveals the first details of a new space in Dalston, Le Bun turns to modern French bistro and Tart London bring their outside catering in.

Bottles wine bar

Bars, bars, bars

Switch up your usual

The arrival of three new bars on the scene means you might have a new local you didn’t know about. Bottles marks a shift to the east for Mercato Metropolitano’s favourite wine experts Franco Mancini and Daniele Maran (and don’t miss that mozzarella bar out front – the best seats in the house), Quality Chop House now have a wine bar with bar snacks (yes, those famous pork pies feature on the menu) and Lady of the Grapes sets out to Covent Garden to champion the women turning winemaking on its head.

Sam Bompas, Bompas and Parr

Ahead of the their new exhibition SCOOP: A Wonderful Ice Cream World (in which, FYI, you can walk through a glow-in–the-dark ice cream cave and taste a vanilla ice cream cloud), we had a quick chat with creative culinary mastermind Sam Bompas, one half of Bompas and Parr.

Where do you go to celebrate?
Right now – XU Teahouse & Restaurant. I went twice last week. They are the sultans of savour.

Can you recommend us somewhere we might not have been?
The Boot and Flogger is the only place in London able to serve alcohol without license and is very old fashioned. There’s panelling floor to ceiling and a warped wooden floor like the deck of a ship. Our studio goes there to celebrate triumphs and toast with a mixture of white port and tonic!

Who is your chef to watch right now?
I’m still obsessed with the work that Max Halley is doing at Max’s Sandwich Shop in Crouch End. He is helping us all rediscover the sandwich.

Yayoi Kusama’s Narcissus Garden

Mirror mirror

Her installations have got to be some of the most-Instagrammed around, and now Yayoi Kusama’s iconic Narcissus Garden – consisting of 1,500 mirrored balls – has found a new home in an abandoned train garage in Rockaway, Queens. In NYC before 3rd September? Go see!

Som Saa

Head chef Andy Oliver serves up some jams

If you know Som Saa, you’ll know they know their music. They’ve hosted Mystery Jets, NTS resident Charlie Bones and Flamingods at their late night parties, so naturally we asked the gang to do a chilled playlist for us. Expect lots of upbeat world music, and laid back vibes from Gil Scott-Heron, Arthur Russell and Al Dobson Jr.

Fun in the sun

At ROKA Canary Wharf

When it’s this hot, you need to take the party outside. And luckily, we’ve got just the thing. ROKA Canary Wharf have just announced the next line-ups for their rooftop Terrace Sessions in partnership with CÎROC vodka, taking place on the last Friday of every month from 5.30-11pm. Their next party is 27th July, and it’s time to celebrate the spirit of dance with Hed Kandi’s Lucid Stannard – think sunset views and vodka cocktails. Next month on 31st August it’s the spirit of carnival (naturally) with Brilliant Corners’ Kristy Harper, and for the final party on 28th September, it’s all about disco dancing until the sun goes down. See you on the terrace!
