…it’s a cartoon-a-thon lately! From catwalk toons to Mickey’s 90th and Charlie Brown at Somerset House, there’s some fun in the air. With that in mind, we’ve got a pre-Christmas NYC trip to see the new Mickey: The True Original Exhibition on the cards – sounds like a good way to kick off the festive season to us. Closer to home, Thursday sees the launch of the annual Widow Series from Veuve Clicquot, this year in SE1 – find out more (including how to win tickets) below. Lastly on the food fair front, this week there’s the festive edition of Taste and HYPER JAPAN to check out, in addition to the new Market Hall Victoria. Enjoy!

It’s getting hot in here

The weather might be getting colder but in terms of new openings, the humidity is rising. We’ve noticed an abundance of greenery and tropical vibes of late: think ferns and bamboo at Zela, an urban greenhouse at SUSHISAMBA Covent Garden, and live bands, palm trees and exotic cocktails at The Parrot.

Marcis Dzelzainis and Michael Sager

If there are two men who know their drinks, its Marcis Dzelzainis (69 Colebrooke Row, Dandelyan, Quo Vadis) and Michael Sager (Sager + Wilde). Before we stop by their new all-day dining spot Fare this week, we got to know them a little better.

What's your all-time favourite London restaurant?
Marcis: Barrafina – it has been consistently great across all of its sites for the last 10 years.
Michael: Brawn. Impeccable service, food, atmosphere and – of course – wine.

Veuve Clicquot Widow Series: Rebels

A space for radical minds

The annual Veuve Clicquot Widow Series is almost here, taking place from 15-17th November at Bargehouse SE1 – and we have 10 pairs of tickets to give away for Friday night (16th, 9-11pm). This year’s series, Rebels, is a fun space to celebrate radical thinking. Each room features bespoke pieces from collaborators including Savages, Nick Knight and Neneh Cherry – we’re especially looking forward to Room 7 (The Sunken Cargo, filled with Funktion-One speaker stacks for club night nostalgia) and Room 5 (The Comet Bar, inspired by VC’s La Grande Dame bottle, celebrating the acid house movement with music by Joe Goddard). Try your luck by entering here, or guarantee your spot by buying a ticket now.

Cheers to everyone's favourite toon!

This year we’re celebrating 90 years since Mickey boarded Steamboat Willie and we’re seeing him everywhere. Evian, Opening Ceremony, Vans and Le Creuset have all gone Mickey mad, and so have we. We say get your Mickey T on and head to Mickey: The True Original Exhibition, which just opened in NYC, ASAP.

A Brand New Production

Politics. Power. Protest.

One-to-watch playwright Jack Stanley opens a new production at the White Bear Theatre this week with Pressure Points. Set against the shifting political backdrop of the 2010s, Pressure Points explores youth activism (yes, those were the days!) and whether or not the political ideals we have when we’re young ever unfold that way in the real world. Directed by Nadia Papachronopoulou, catch the latest work from two emerging theatrical talents this week from 13th-17th November.
