Our favourite food market
If you love a good food market, but hate the crowds at Borough, head down the road to Maltby Street. It’s quite spread out so you can wander along the archways picking up fruit and veg from Tony Booth, bread from St John and meat from Nathan the butcher. Then head for the Ropewalk for snacks and cocktails (Sparrow gin have a makeshift bar in one of the arches). Finish off at 40 Maltby Street – a natural wine bar where the chef serves up daily specials.
Top Tip:
Go early if you want one of the legendary St John custard doughnuts – they sell out quick.
