Water Way To Go

Image

Ah, the great London commute. Being a creative type I'm fortunate enough to be based in the backstreets of Soho, so the only thing that stresses me out is the bus driver at the beginning of route 137, who relishes in making me wait in the rain whilst he has a twenty-minute conversation on his mobile, feet on the dash, before opening the doors.?

I can imagine, for longer distances, this kind of malarkey could get extremely tiresome. With Boris d*cking about with mythical cable car routes over the Thames and an entirely practical Jermyn Street Venetian-style waterway, commuters have little reason to look to the river for hope. Fun - yes (the Hampton Court Flower Show) is putting on an authentic Thai floating market this year, whilst September's Thames Festival promises more waterside frolicks). Tradition - yes (join swan upping this year and help the swan marker count the city's cygnets). But basic transport needs - not so much.

A free, and rather fabulous alternative, however, is 'Perfect Commute Home' from Pilsner Urquell which offers a luxury river boat service for tired travellers with on-board barbeque, beer garden, and below deck toys including a putting green and Nintendo Wiis, as well as massages and grooming sessions. Beat that Boris.

Perfect Commute Home, 15th, 23rd and 30th July.
