For Your Convenience

Image

It is a brave soul indeed who tackles the Oxford Street strip. Between buggies, Spanish schoolkids with matching neon backpacks and the general dawdling public, it’s a short but certain road to a nervous breakdown.

So we’re fully embracing these recent migrations out of the centre scrum: Nike’s new concept store off Curtain Road is a design haven of old-school gym equipment and techno touches, and makes a welcome change to the Babylonian Tower of Niketown, whilst Lee Jeans is also moving its new showroom out Shoreditch way.

And now West London is starting to get in on the love in a big way. West End luxury lovers really must head to The Convenience Store, which has quietly popped up in a vacant cobblers just off Golborne Road. Brainchild of artist-designer Andrew Ibi, it focuses on exclusive pieces from seriously hot design talent – think Rick Owens, Ann-Sofie Back, Clare Tough, and Hannah Marshall. Most items are limited, niche, and a touch unconventional, with particularly sought after pieces kept ‘under the counter’ for loyal customers on special request.

Beats a quart of milk and a dozen eggs any day.
