Square One

With Time Out's stamp of approval and a nod from Vogue's Secret Address Book, Bermondsey Square's regeneration has a lot to live up to. And taking up residency alongside old favourites like the Friday Antiques Market and the new Shortwave Films indie cinema, is the Bermondsey Square Hotel.

Fusing English eccentricity with a good dollop of modern day elegance (what else would you expect from the people behind Home House's re-launch?) the 76 boutique bedrooms, designed by David Gabriel, come with Apple iMac entertainment systems, Hansgrohe rain showers and room service pillow fights, while one of the four rooftop loft rooms (all named after iconic 1960s hits: Lucy, Jude, Ruby and Lily) also has its own hot tub.

Meanwhile, taking its cue from the "60s Caine classic, "Alfie's Kitchen, Bar and Deli' offers hearty British fare downstairs (Boris Burger with Floppy Cheese Fringe, anyone?) whilst upstairs houses the B2 club members bar. Run by Mark Taylor, it sits on the doorstep of Borough Market, and promises locally sourced produce as well as a wine shop and deli. Oh, and Colonel Mustard - the mustard sommelier, naturally.

It's never been so hip to be square.

Opening April 14th, but accepting bookings now. Opening rates start from £89.
