CITY/SEA: PURO URBANO AND BEACH PART 1
Say it in a sentence: City chic boutique hotel in Palma’s old town, with access to the idyllic beach club on the water.

At the hotel:
Locals - this is one of the hangouts in Palma- and well-trod Euro mini-breakers. The hotel’s PR /man about town Ivan can also usually be found hosting a table (this man knows his bits - pick his brain for other hotspot recommendations) and so can owner Mats, when he’s not jetting off to one of his other Puro destinations or business ventures.
At the beach club:
Groups of globetrotting friends in for the weekend. This is a spot for the long limbed, mojito quaffing, bronzed brigade.
Check in for:
One part urban escape, one part seaside sun lounging; both parts relaxing getaway.
Get busy with:
Exploring Palma. From tasting regional delicacies (olives, almonds, wines, ensaimadas; to name a few) to shopping, and mountaintop exploring (rent a car and drive around, the scenery is beautiful), you won’t want for things to do here. And when the tourist fatigue kicks in, take ye self to the beach club.
Interesting Trivia:
The hotel was an 18th Century palace- we love the dichotomy between the historic structure and mod cons and contemporary design of the hotel.
You’ll love:
The open-air ground floor courtyard, and roof top canopied day beds- both perfect spots for a pre- dinner drink at the hotel. At the beach club- massages that are basically on the water and a snip at 50 Euros for 40 minutes. This is an extremely unique location (reminds us of a trendy version of the pool at hotel d’Este).
We heart:
The old part of the hotel. Some rooms have two levels with black slate washrooms (or spas as they call them) complete with rose petals for the tub. Nightstand tables come with earplugs and a camel bone bracelet for good luck. After a recent renovation, the hotel is overall much more sleek than feathered ‘chic’, which is a good thing. We also love the shuttle that takes you to and from Purobeach - really makes this transfer hassle free. The free in-room movies are a nice touch too.
Don’t miss out:
On dinner at the hotel (Opio Bar and Restaurant) especially if it’s a weekend. The cuisine is healthy and interesting (and largely Pan Asian, or ‘Haute Asian and Mediterranean Cuisine’ as they coined it), and the DJ plays into the night. Great people watching and a good place to start your night out on the town (Pacha?)
UJ’s Shared Secret:
We think this would be a great place to host a ‘weekend away’ party. Daytime champers by the pool/sea with beats in the background and a beautiful sunset, followed by dinner in the city. Watch this space…. Also, the new part of the hotel (in July the hotel doubled in size) also has a conference room and a private wing with bedrooms that could be used for attendees, so if you have a conference on the horizon, this could be an inspiring alternative to hosting it at one of the ‘big name’ hotels.
