A Public Place

a public place

Guy Pelly’s new club opens

Let’s play a game.

We’ll say a word and you respond with the first thing that pops into your brain. Ready.....

PUBLIC.

Now, your answer will either qualify you for or against entry into Chelsea’s newest nightspot of the same name. ‘Toilet’ – get yourself back to the East end you dirty junkies. ‘School’ – excellent Jack Wills gilet Sir/Madam, do come in.

There may be a touch of irony in the name of this cavernous club taking up an old antiques warehouse space (what venue worth its salt isn’t setting up shop in some kind of ex-industrial hanger nowadays?) considering its pedigree. The man behind the set-up is none other than the Royals best mate Guy Pelly, he of Mahiki/Whisky Mist fame, and this is his first solo project after the pop-up Birdcage, which kept all of the right feathers ruffled at Ascot this summer.

So what’s on offer? How about a massive dance floor with a stunning 15m copper bar and carousel horses for the riding, a VIP room decked out like an old-school sweetie emporium (tuck shop to you), and a dressing up room with photo-booth, which’ll save patrons the trouble of awkward self-taken shots.

Jokes aside we can’t say what the crowd will actually look like, but we’re all thinking one thing - official Royal Wedding Afterparty venue - complete with Queen working the Polo ponies. Public...... humiliation?

INFO
Public opens 3rd December, 533 King’s Road, SW10 0TZ. Thurs-Sun, 10pm-3am.
