Out and about: Royal Academy Summer Exhibition

In its impressive 242nd year, the RA’s summer exhibition is not to be missed by any design enthusiast. Showcasing work by both emerging and well-known artists in all media (including new pieces by Tracey Emin, Antoni Tapies, Ed Ruscha, Michael Craig-Martin and Gillian Ayres), this year’s exhibition revolves around the theme “raw”. 2010 has seen a whopping 11,000 entries, and the lucky ones to have been selected will – for the most part – be on sale, so if something grabs your fancy you had better snap it up. Fast.

Eye candy: Anonymous

Over at our mydeco boutique we are as proud as punch to be selling homewares by graphic design company: anonymous. Combining image-making and typography, :anonymous started out in the arts sector and have done some rocking designs for the Science Museum. Luckily for us, they have branched out into interiors, and their intricate and colourful illustrations will seduce any design junkie.

Get it or regret it: BBQ bucket at Crocus

We’ve finally had our fill of floppy, tinny, temperamental disposable barbecues. Now you can sear in style and be King of the Barbie wherever you are with Crocus’s portable BBQ bucket. Simple and understated but also just that little bit rustic, every beachgoer should invest.

Staying in: pucker picnics

Tired of blending into the crowds in Hyde Park? Peeved that you didn’t plan ahead and get a posher rug and a hamper to sing about? It’s not too late. We tracked down Christina Strutt, the talented face behind Cabbages and Roses, and quizzed her on the secret to stylish al fresco dining. Read the full interview and devise a picnic to shout about. She won’t go without: real china, napkins and pudding.
