 reservations only

Get your reservations in early for London’s latest restaurant launch.

We can’t get a reservation for toffee at the moment. Really, we suspect even if all we wanted was in fact, toffee, we’d still be stuck on an endless waitlist. Valentine’s Day is down to 6pm slots. Blumenthal pilgrims are burning at a pyre that doesn’t promise to put out until March. We haven’t seen the inside of Hawksmoor Seven Dials before 10pm. The neighbourhood pizza place laughed at our Friday evening booking request and our office local ran out of soup today. SOUP. Is there serious cash to splash on dining right now or is everyone just denial-eating their poverty and clogging up our calendars in the meantime?

Either way you look at it, good tables are hard to come by. So we’re giving you the following information now, in the hope that you can get in before the hoards arrive and you’re left at home with a cardboard carton and snap-apart chopstick splinters. The heads up is for Pan-Asian joint Cocochan, promising to open on St James Street (which seems to be experiencing a bit of an Oriental renaissance between this and Inamo) next week with an ominous Open Table ‘check back soon’ status keeping us on the edge of our seats. We like the ‘family style’ dig in eating option, modern-sounding interiors (grey resin floor, mirrored metallic latticework, black bamboo tables), snugs in the ex-cellar bar space, and an all-weather terrace which’ll come in mighty handy come summer.

Which is probably when we’ll get a table.

Info
Cocochan is opening next week (we’ll keep you updated on a definite date)
38-40 James Street, W1U 1EU.
