Beauty Spot

The Beauty Barometer

UJ’S fabulous sleuths over at Cult Beauty are back this month to raise temperatures and find out what's hot and what's not in the world of health&beauty.

Beauty Spot 1
GOING UP

Vanda Serrador @ Neville Hair and Beauty
Now offering her services at the Knightsbridge salon, Vanda is establishing herself as London’s Facialist sans pareil. Cult Beauty was overwhelmed by the Urban Renaissance experience, which has truly raised the bar.

Eyelashes
Cheryl Cole strikes again. The woman who could make a purple shell suit cool now has us lusting after massive lashes. Recreate her look with a pair of falsies from the new Girls Aloud for Eylure range.

Hippie Glam
Get ready for festival season by revamping hippie-chic tresses. Do as Luella did at her spring/summer 09 show and add detail to your hair with plaits. Wear one across the front of your head and you’ll be the sexiest girl-next-door for blocks.

GOING DOWN

Sunbeds
Time to get those legs out girls, summer’s peeking. But don’t risk burning, dryness and sunspots on a tanning bed. Smart girls take skin care seriously. Try Drew Barrymore’s favourite Xen-Tan and wait for the ‘Where do you dock your yacht?’ comments to roll in.

Cellulite treatments
Who needs an expensive cream full of false promises when men cost nothing? The US Trading Standards body has fined QVC $7.5 million after its claims that the Lipofactor Cellulite Target Lotion reduced the orange peel effect were found to be unsubstantiated. Shocker.

Botox blues
Psychologists at Cardiff University have suggested that Botox makes you happy. They claim that since expressions affect our mood, paralysing the muscles we use to frown will leave us with no choice but to be happy. Even Botox junkies will laugh at this logic. Well, try to.
