Frida Escobedo’s Serpentine Pavilion

Art & Culture and Seasonal

This event has ended.

Summer in London guarantees few things (sunshine? Certainly not), but one item on our calendar we can be certain of is the Serpentine Gallery’s new pavilion. This year, Frida Escobedo (the youngest architect to ever be commissioned to design the pavilion) will bring a slice of her hometown of Mexico City to the central London oasis, with an enclosed courtyard. The outer walls are aligned with the Serpentine Gallery’s eastern façade, while the axis of the internal courtyard will align directly to the north. With numerous mirrored panels, and reflecting elements within the pavilion, it’s hoped visitors will feel a heightened awareness of time spent in play, contemplation and improvisation in the summer months, which we love the sound of, whatever the weather throws at us.
