In the heart of midtown, close to Central Park and across the street from Carnegie Hall, this five star hotel occupies the first 25 floors of a 90-story building – and it’s one class act.
The Hotel
There’s no messing around at Park Hyatts. Here, all things come luxe. A big brand with a small hotel feel (this one has 210 rooms, with 92 suites), this is where you stay if you want to feel like you live in NY, the five star way – think Gossip Girl apartments with slick but unobtrusive 24 hour staff and you’d be close.
The Rooms
By NY standards, these rooms are huge. Spacious bathrooms with standalone tubs, well-thought-out closet space (including ‘gown closets’ that fit full length items), floor to ceiling windows (#UJloves), a desk for those big deal calls, silky sheets, his and her monogrammed slippers and no logos, anywhere (you already know you’re at a Park Hyatt). We’d really be happy here, forever.
The Vibe
Top tier with casual undertones. Business ready, but not only. Global with an American backbone. Considered; everything is considered. High performance in every way.
Highlights
UJ loved the art collection throughout the hotel curated by Erica Samuels, who is very, very talented. Samuels understands the brand’s DNA down to a tee, and incorporated pieces from local designers (UJ loved the lights from Lindsey Adelman), as well as more established artists. If you’re a contemporary art fan, a stay here is like visiting several galleries, and then some. UJ also loved the spa (the views!), complete with massage beds that are covered in heated sand. And definitely go for a swim – a Carnegie Hall soundtrack is played underwater. A look in at the function room is also a must; called the Onyx Room, it is completely covered in white onyx walls and is truly spectacular. The Back Room’s breakfast for two – 2003 Dom, Beluga Caviar Bagel, Kobe Steak with Truffled Eggs, Foie Gras Toast, Saffron Poached Fruit, and Kopi Luwak Coffee – is an interesting read too.
