Making a home next to Balthazar, Red Farm brings its cult dim sum creations that have taken Manhattan’s West Village by storm to Covent Garden. With Chinese food expert Ed Schoenfeld and dim sum chef extraordinaire Joe Ng at the helm, dumplings have taken centre stage in New York, and we’re not complaining that their shrimp and scallop XO fried rice and Katz’s pastrami egg roll have finally made it to London – not to mention those famed Pac Man dumplings. If it’s not dumplings you fancy, try the grilled Dingley Dell pork chop or Thai-style sautéed lobster with tomato rice and leave room for a custard bao – trust us. At the moment Red Farm are serving dinner only (in softe opening), ahead of a full launch later in the year – they’re also not taking reservations yet, so it’s a walk-in-only affair. From October, their cocktail bar Toots’n’Hoots opens upstairs too.
