OK, so no messing about. This was a terrific collection: assured, slick, and intelligent. The sometimes confused message of past seasons was replaced with a superb display of colour, fabric, print and silhouette, combined into a cohesive statement. From the very fist chic blazer and trousers to the final elaborately decorated sheath dress, the designers never put a foot wrong.
The print mixes, from computer style technological prints through to a distressed abstract, worked in perfect harmony. The shots of colour, from poisoned orchid through to a scalding hot flame red, were sensational. The construction techniques revealed a new confidence with one special stand out being the cowl front dress attached to an under layer, which seemingly stayed in place by sheer will-power but was actually an example of fantastic technique. Tailored shapes contrasted against folded or draped elements in perfect balance, and most importantly the clothes were beautifully balanced in construction, with curves and seams flattering and accentuating the body. Especially of note was the slightly raised waist playing in proportion to the skirt lengths, making the wearer appear elegant and poised. Which is exactly what this collection was.
