It wasn’t a show in the traditional sense (no catwalk, no models, no front row hassle), but more of an installation, as press and buyers descended upon On/Off’s first show at the Science Museum and were greeted by mannequins in Marshall’s creations, and an open bar. Always a promising start.
Marshall also dressed girls from the band Ipso Facto (complete with Hannah-esque red lips and chopped, blunt fringes) in her new A/W Armour collection. Staying with her signature black palette, the clothes were all sculpted contours, moulded shoulders and padded hips, interspersed with provocative flashes of flesh via scoop dresses, thigh slashes and sheer panelling.
Whilst the band’s music was pumped out of the space’s sound system, Marshall mingled with the crowd in what felt like an intimate look at a designer whose own intimate obsession with the human form is making her one of the most sought after young talents this season.
