UJ Loves Top 10 / Outdoor Space - Pavilion at Serpentine Gallery
Innovative summer space
Not only does the Serpentine host the summer party every year, they also commission a guest architect to design a pavilion in the gardens. This year, Herzog & Meuron and Ai Weiwei – responsible for the acclaimed Bird’s Nest Stadium in Beijing – were at the design helm. With a ‘floating roof’ supported by twelve columns, and a cork interior, the structure takes you ‘underground’ to explore pavilions of years past. Set in Hyde Park, this is a local and tourist must.
Top Tip:
Head inside the gallery and peruse the books in Koenig, or take a walk through Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park.
