Heard & Seen: Parties thus far
Like some giant skyscraper casting a shadow over LFW's party hinterland is Friday's Marc Jacobs one. Everybody knows it will be the biggest and the hardest to get into but we'll have to make do with the 8 million other ones before then, and so far they've been mixed.
Very. McQueen at Boombox on Sunday was, ahem, 'banging', but then Boombox generally is. Perez Hilton (perezhilton.com) was there though, which was nice.
Generally, the parties are as good a barometer of London Fashion as the shows themselves. Where you had On and Off Schedule shows clearly divided, so too albeit unofficially were the parties. Right now, everything's kinda getting mixed in together a la McQueen (90s
legend) meets Nu Rave klubkids (00s defining movement thus far) and,
say, Jodie Harsh hosting the Kokon To Zai party at Café Royal's Grill Rooms last night. Jodie Harsh is a drag queen splashed all over Heat, is utterly fabulous and has thrown the best FASHION PARTY of the week thus far. ErrrrŠ Everywhere you look, 'underground' types are starting to crop up in mainstream, On Schedule type places. Is that Molaroid I see on the front row over there? Is that Katie Grand tagging behind him?!!! And how about Henry Holland the Perez Hilton of the Printed Tee? Forget long debates about the importance of pattern cutting somehow he just seems so exciting and new and EVERYWHERE!
Not least the Elle Style Awards, replete with full entourage!
(BTW: Check out the House of Holland Ltd Edition fluoro Kickers on sale at Dover St market Snazztastic!) As for the shows, well, Sunday only had three. The three designers did have a combined age of 178, too, btw, so the Nu Rave influences were minimal, to say the least. Yesterday was a full day, the highlight being Manish Arora bold, futuristic, and Indo-bright. Nu Raj Rave anyone????!!!
PS Be warned the courtesy drinks have been more limited than ever AND there's more fash-ites than ever trying to snaffle 'em!
