Daily Coverage: Jean Pierre Braganza
Space age fashion can be a dreadful bore for the audience of a fashion show – Star Trek and Metropolis are hardly the stuff of real clothes for a modern women - Jean Pierre Braganza successfully pulled off a collection with an outer space theme by actually relying on precision cutting, mathematical construction and sharp modern silhouettes.
Combining Electric Blue, Mercury Silver and Black he worked out a
balance between body conscious dressing and slouchy, oversize Arran
knits and added just a hint of Art Deco geometrics to the mix.
The unfolding ribbons of taffeta, the sword like curves of leather and
swags of rippling jersey were laid against matt jersey to create a
series of pieces, which whilst totally individual and new reminded this
observer of the hey day of Thierry Mugler; who, after all remains the
King of Outer Space fashion. Jean Pierre can certainly boldly go
forward into the stratosphere with this collection.
