Daily Coverage: SteveJ & Yoni P
With a Russian Steppes theme and the influence of Mongolia running through the clothes this was never going to be a minimal collection. Yet the wonderful overscale jacquard flowers on the garments were perfectly balanced by neat items in pepper and salt wool, or a simple fitted sweater. The collection successfully combined three disparate elements into a coherent statement - exotica and decoration (including romantic ruffles), simple sportier pieces such as a trench or blouson, and strict tailoring- especially jackets. The progression of the presentation from a heavier more Siberian layering to delicate shredded tulle for women was balanced by clean tailored lines for men, after elaborate decorative ethnic looks had opened the show.
With a strong reaction from the audience in favour of the collection it will be interesting to watch future developments for this design duo.
