Summer might be coming to a close in London, but there’s still a good month at least left in Ibiza! This issue we have a bit of a restaurant special for you, which reflects the island’s incredible current offering. We’re also already looking ahead to next season when [UNVRS], the club that Privilege nightclub will be relaunched as, opens; it’s (literally) going to be a big one. If you haven’t been on the White Isle yet this year, it’s not too late to book a trip, and late September/October are definitely great months to be there. Whatever you do, we hope you find a way to stretch out those final sunshine days.

xx Taryn and Team UJ xx

Gare du Nord

By the founders of the much-loved Giri Residence is Gare du Nord, a Moroccan-inspired nine-bed hotel located in the quaint, local town of San Juan. There’s a ground floor restaurant, Bistro Mondo, open for lunch and dinner, and you also share the facilities (breakfast area, pool with beds), with the Giri. This is a great place if you’re looking to be in the north – out of the ‘mix’, so to speak, but close to so many great coves and local spots. There’s an excellent artisan market in town here, on Sundays, too.

MAC

We’ve seen lots of ‘brand’-led events in Ibiza, and often, the events don’t seem to really quite capture the island. MAC’s launch of their new Studio Radiance Concealer, via an immersive party/photoshoot at Six Senses, definitely seemed to get it. The island’s radiance played centre stage, with sunset to twilight paired with high-flash studio lights, creating a magical backdrop for the soirée.

Jondal
Top Chefs - Round Up

Ibiza is truly becoming a foodie destination. Global talent – chefs that have worked at some of the best restaurants in the world – that used to head straight for bigger cities are now re-routing and settling there.

For a bit of a round up on top chefs currently making their mark at different restaurants on the White Isle:

Beachside restaurant Jondal, which still seems to be the hardest reservation to get (and for good reason), has an ex-El Bulli head chef at the helm; seafront Nudo has three ex-Noma chefs; the eight-seater Omakase by Walt just received a Michelin star; another Adrià brothers alum, Sebastian Mazzola, is doing private dinners; Boris Buono, also ex-Noma, serves innovative cuisine at Taller Sa Penya, Cas Gasi and Bistro du Monde; Angel Zapata Martin (ex-Barrafina London) recently relocated to Ibiza to work with Grupo Mambo; and this season’s newcomer, Madunia, also has a chef (Ivan Arauz Beusink) who trained at Michelin-starred restaurants in the Netherlands.

Quick 3
With Casa Lhasa Owners, Cassidy Sniatowsky and Ben Shpunt

As fans of Casa Lhasa, we caught up with its founders and discussed all things natural wine.

Is this an exciting time, on the F&B front, to be in Ibiza?

It is always an interesting time to work in hospitality. We’ve noticed a change in winds on the island in recent years after the pandemic; Ibiza took the opportunity to attract different projects rather than parties, clubs and “low cost” tourism.

Boatsy

A new tech-driven boat marketplace, Boatsy, matches your selected boat with a recommended itinerary and crew. Apparently, being hit with unexpected costs due to a change in itinerary is a common complaint for people who rent boats, so by selecting the itinerary upfront, they aim to eliminate that surprise factor, which sounds good. There are over 13,000 boats to rent on their platform, ranging from catamarans and yachts to traditional sail and motor boats.
