Wine Not

Last week saw London Wine Week take over the capital with some of London’s best taking part, and this week, we still have wine on the mind. Didn’t wine-around last week? Not to fear, here are some newbies in the capital.

First up it’s over to Brixton for Salon’s new Wine Store. Forget the high street and march straight to this small gem where you’ll find a curated selection of small production Old and New World, organic/biodynamic vins, with small plates available too. You can drink in with no corkage (eyes pop!!), and if you’re in south LDN, they have delivery within an hour. Ding dong!

Still in Brixton (before they had nothing, and now they have it all), the much-loved Brixton Wine Parlour has opened their second shop in Brixton Village. With a philosophy that encourages you to taste before you buy (hic!), and a focus on lesser-known grapes from smaller, family-run vineyards, this sounds like our kind of place. They have eight bar seats inside, 15 seats outside around barrels, or you can take your bottle to one of the BYO spots in the market. They have spirits and craft beers too, and they’ve brought the chalkboard back.

Lastly, something sparkling at sea. Launching 7th June, the floating Grand Duchess will focus on fresh fish delivered daily and 50 different sparkling wines. The boat may not move like its sibling, The Prince Regent, but if you’re feeling like you need a break, a quick float/glass of sparkling with views of the canal may just do the trick.

*The Grand Duchess is offering 50% off food for their opening week, from Friday 7th June – Thursday 13th June.
