As OD Talamanca is our home away from home in Ibiza, we decided it was high time we checked out their BCN property, OD Barcelona.
The Hotel
If you want central, this is it. A short walk to Eixample, Gràcia and Placa Catalunya, and about 30 mins to El Born, you could get away with not taking a single taxi when staying here.
The Vibe
At first glance, the hotel could look a tad corporate. But look a bit closer, and there is great design running through this property: clean lines, modern furniture, lighting that’s been considered. The building is an innovative shape and they have a great use of wood throughout, as is the OD way. There’s a gratis wine and cheese soirée nightly and a DJ in the lobby some nights.
The Rooms
Small and perfectly formed is how we would classify these. Windows have a sliding ‘door’, so the room truly is blackout, which is always a number one priority for us. There’s a Nespresso machine and speaker, both always appreciated. As with all OD Hotels, if your budget allows, opt for a loft or a suite (here, the grand suite has its own pool) for more space, tubs, and Kenzo products.
Food and Drink
The menu here is small, but available late. Items range from Korean burgers and pad Thai to more traditional patatas bravas and salads. Opt for breakfast with your room to start your day off right and should you want anything off menu, ask. They’re great at accommodating here. For drinks, head to the OD Sky Bar (May- October) for drinks and DJs high in the sky. And late night, it’s the hidden Vinoteca on the main floor.
Anything Else
The rooftop pool here is small, like most Barcelona pools, but it’s not rammed, which is a nice change. There isn’t a gym, but you have access to a Holmes Place close by. Don’t miss the ground floor garden area; this is a great place for a late dinner, and we hear there are often parties here too.
