So this week, our highlights are: a Notting Hill transfer from Brooklyn, two east transfers to Covent Garden, a West Hollywood transfer to Hoxton and a Mayfair transfer from Paris.
Let’s start west. Sunday in Brooklyn has been serving hipsters in NY since 2016, and now they’re bringing their famed sweet pancakes, s’mores, and ‘Honeybear on Holiday’ cocktails to the Hill. Taking over a large space on Westbourne Grove (the old Côte Brasserie), we’re hoping they bring the vibes – and the za’atar chili fries from Brooklyn.
Over in Covent Garden, Laphet, the Burmese restaurant in Shoreditch, is heading to The Yards (date TBC), and Bong Bong’s Manila Kanteen may have closed their Hackney Road location, but they’re opening at KERB Seven Dials this Thursday (now on soft launch with 50% off food). We’ll be there for the (outstanding) crispy pata (24hr sous vide pork hock) and mushroom sisig pancakes, fun vibes, and piña coladas. Oh, and if you haven’t done so yet, the market alone is worth checking out; this is definitely ‘food court 2.0.’
East, Soho House is bringing their much-loved restaurant Maya from West Hollywood to The Hoxton hotel’s roof. The menu here has a regional focus and was inspired by authentic, family recipes from the executive chef’s mainly Oaxacan kitchen staff. Excitingly, there’s also a roaming guac cart, Mexican cocktails and views.
And in Mayfair, Cyril Lignac is bringing some of his Saint-Germain-des-Prés sparkle to Albemarle Street, with the first international outpost of his renowned Bar de Prés. Opening 22 May, the menu will be a French/east Asian mix, serving dishes both warm and cold in a dining room with 100 covers and counter seating.
