Vibe & Decor

If you’ve been to Naughty Piglets in Brixton, you’ll know all about their innovative small plates and stellar natural wine list. Now the low-intervention experts have a second restaurant above Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Other Palace, after he visited the original site and fell in love with it. This is far from overpriced pre-theatre fare; think laid-back bar dining atop an impressive marble staircase.

Flavours

Small plates are everywhere these days, but it’s rare to find somewhere that does them really well. The Other Naughty Piglet strips the concept of small plates back to what they’re meant for; culinary creativity and diversity. The menu is laid out chronologically; the dishes arrive one after the other, which means you can really take the time to taste each one rather than rushing through and mixing up the distinctive tastes. The menu is seasonal, but if it’s there when you go we recommend the Loch Duart salmon, dill and pickled cucumber (blowtorched by hand to perfection), the BBQ pork belly (melty!) and the honeycomb, chocolate mousse and salted caramel, which is perfect if you haven’t got much room left.

Top Tip

Go after theatre doors open – for obvious reasons.

Highlight

The wine. We started off with a sparkling Chenin Blanc, which was one of the best glasses we’ve had for a while.
