Portobello Road, Notting Hill, London W11 1LJ
You’ll still find bedknobs and broomsticks at Portobello Market if you look hard enough, but it’s the vintage wares, china and antiques (it’s the world’s largest) that are really worth elbowing in for. If you’re looking to escape the crowds, head down on a Friday for antiques, as Saturday gets packed out with tourists. Make a day of it, veer off down side streets for espressos when it gets too busy, and stick around for last minute sales at the end of the day.
