The Lowdown
You might think of airport hotels as a necessity rather than a luxury, but Naumi’s latest design-led property is changing all that.
The Facts
Located minutes from the international and domestic terminals of Auckland airport, this is the third property from Naumi, joining their two Singapore hotels in their line-up. The Naumi Auckland has way more luxury facilities than you’d usually expect at your bog standard hotel airport, but here the main draw is the design.
The hotel’s theme pays homage to New Zealand’s native Tui bird, so expect surprising design elements like a double-height lobby, a 24-karat gold leaf textured walls, hand-painted feather disks, textured rugs and stand-out chandeliers. Art is at the heart of the hotel, with Australasian artworks taking centre stage from Belynda Henry and Judi Bagust (Naumi are also the sponsors for the NZ installation of Yayoi Kusama’s Obliteration Room).
Room-wise, you can expect your digs to be decked out in neutral, earthy tones with crisp linens and wooden panelling, and fully equipped with 50” smart TVs (with Netflix, of course.) When you get hungry, order room service or head down to Paksa restaurant for Asian-fusion fare, including bento box lunches, Waitoa chicken breast, and Hawkes Bay lamb rack, washed down with a glass of wine from the nearby Villa Maria vineyard.
