As you may have heard, Tottenham is on the rise! With this in mind, we’ve scribed a cheat’s guide to the current hype spots. Here’s our take on the three areas worth investigating.
The first thing to know is it’s no longer all about football. Up in White Hart Lane the beautiful game is on hold while Tottenham Hotspur’s Stadium is rebuilt – a cause for celebration? We’ll leave that up to you, but it does mean there are some new kids in town. Former home fans’ pub The Pride of Tottenham has been taken over by the team behind Ruby’s and Night Tales, with food coming from Lucky Chip. They’ve renamed it The Bluecoats after the school the building originally housed, and it opens on Thursday – go see! And don’t forget to swing by Holly Chaves’ Wine & Rind at nearby newly renovated Holcombe Market – those black pudding toasties get us every time.
Until recently, Hale Village was chiefly a brewery-only zone: Beavertown and Pressure Drop ruled the waves, plus theatre and comedy from Styx Bar. Now two new independent music venues bring a different twist: ex car mechanics depot The Cause sits alongside Grow Tottenham, and together the warehouses spaces have a combined capacity of 600. Don’t miss their bank holiday Sunday Block Party when The Cause will be opening up their outdoor space.
And down in Markfield Park, we’ve said it before, but Five Miles is worth keeping an eye on. We spotted San Proper in there before his set at The Cause two weeks ago, and it’s a real Friday night party-starter spot. Also look out for Bones and Pearl for last minute warehouse parties and their now-infamous car-B-que that we’re hoping gets fired up for summer as soon as possible.
